Forces launch SADO in Orchards of Shopian

Shopian, April 27  : Government forces on Saturday morning launched SADO (search and destroy operation) in orchards of Heff shirmal belt of South kashmirs Shopian district.

Official sources told that on specific inputs about the presence of militants joint team of forces including 44 RR, 178 Bn Crpf and sog shopian launched search and destroy operation in the area.

Local sources said that huge contingents of forces have been deployed in the area and search operation is going on.

Locals said that during wee hours they heard the sound of dozens of forces vehicles going towards the Orchard area.

They said the Heff-Shirmal Vuder (Karewa land) is a huge area surrounded by orchards, open fields, and dense woods, which the forces suspect to be a hub of militant shelters.(KNO)

Minor boy injured in low intensity explosion in Poonch

Rajouri, April 26  : An eight-year-old boy, who is student of third class was injured in a mysterious low intensity explosion that took place in Kalaban village of Mendhar in Poonch district.

Identified as Ishaq, son of Mohammad Ashraf Ahmed resident of Kalaban village of Mendhar Police Station, the boy was reportedly playing near his house when he fiddled with something suspicious, which resulted in a low scale explosion.

Ishaq received injury in his hands after which he was taken to a local health institution where first aid was imparted and later injured was discharged.

Police told that no formal complaint was registered in this regard but an investigation has been started.

Airline companies refuse to refund whole amount to NEET aspirants from Kashmir who had booked air tickets in advance

Srinagar, Apr 26, : Though to accommodate all the 9,250 aspirants from the Kashmir Valley for this year’s National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams, the National Testing Agency (NTA) allotted four additional centres in the region, yet the aspirants are alleging that they suffered monetary losses as the airline companies deducted a large chunk of amount while cancelling their tickets.

   A large number of students who were supposed to appear in the examination at different centres including Delhi, Utrakhand, Chandigarh, Ajmeer on May 5 had booked air tickets in advance for them and their relatives supposed to accompany them. “We cancelled the tickets after examination centres were established in Valley but to our shock, the airlines companies especially Air Asia and Indigo deducted Rs 3000 each from us. Hundreds of students had booked tickets in advance and thus suffered monetary losses,” said an aspirant Bilal Ahmed to news agency CNS.

  Another student blamed National Testing Agency (NTA) and the government for the mess. “We appeal authorities to impress upon the airline companies to refund whole amount to students,” he said.

The NEET test is scheduled to be held on May 5 from 2 to 5 pm. NTA had already set up NEET exam centres in the Valley for 5,750 aspirants while the remaining 3,500 aspirants will appear in the examination at Kashmir University, Gandhi Memorial College, Green Valley School and Kashmir Harvard School.

Srinagar, Apr 26 : Police in Budgam received a complaint against a job consultancy firm Gulf HR Solutions Hyderpora that the owner is cheating people on the pretext of providing jobs in foreign.

A case FIR No. 97/2019 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Budgam.

Police statement said , acting on a complaint arrested an individual identified as Adil Yousuf Sheikh, son of Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh, resident of Nowpora Khayam. The relevant records were also seized for the purpose of investigation.

Officers while investigating the case have learnt that the proprietor of Gulf HR consultancy has duped many young unemployed youth by providing them fake visas, fake appointment orders and fake air tickets and illegally grabbed huge chunk of money from each one of them.

General public lauded the timely and prompt action of police, police said in a statement.

ECI Meeting On Tuesday Again On Kashmir Assembly Polls

Srinagar, April 26 : The Election Commission of India (ECI) is meeting again on Tuesday to discuss the conduct of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir even as state government favored elections in November.“Commission has not taken any decision with regard to the conduct of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir,” said ECI’s official spokesperson Sheyphali Sharan while talking to news agency.

She said that Commission is holding meeting every Friday and Tuesday. “The agenda of the upcoming meeting on Tuesday will be assembly polls in the state of J&K.”

She said that there was no decision with regard to the assembly elections in the meeting attended by chief election commissioner J&K Shailender Kumar and Home Secretary Shaleen Kabra. Several senior officers were also present.

Meanwhile, a security officer told that the security agencies cited various reasons for not holding assembly polls in summer this year, underlining that security establishments are busy with Amarnath Yatra and that there are possibilities of more attacks by militants during the season. (GNS)

Plantation drive held at MET Sopore Campus

Sopore : Muslim Educational Trust School Sopore on Friday held a plantation drive at the Main campus, Sopore .

The event was inaugurated by Muhammad Akbar principal of the school while as staff members and students planted different plants for beautification of the campus.

During the drive, about 1000 saplings of different species were planted in the premises of MET Campus.

Speaking on the occasion Chairman of the School said that the aim of this drive was to make students aware about the plantation and our responsibility to nurture it .

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the student.

Chanapora attack Police issues statement

Police in a statement said that militants this evening fired on Police Post Chanapora. The fire was retaliated by the cops.

In the brief exchange of fire, one policeman Ct Feroz Ahmad sustained injuries. He has been evacuated to hospital and is undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Police has registered a case in the instant matter. Search in the area is going on.

Al-Umar Mujahideen claims attack on police post Chanapora

Srinagar, Apr 26 : Al-Umar Mujahideen has claimed responsibility of attack on Police Post Chanapora in Srinagar district.

In a tele-statement to news agency Al-Umar Mujahideen chief Mushtaq Zargar said that its cadres carried out the attack on the Police Post Chanapora.

He claimed that the cadres after carrying out the attack reached their destinations safely.

One policeman, Constable Feroz Ahmad, was injured critically in the militant attack.
According to a police officer, the injured cop was taken to Army’s 92 base hospital, Badamibagh for treatment.

“Standoff fire on Police Post Chanapora. The fire was retaliated. One policeman was injured and has been shifted to hospital,” a police spokesman said, adding that area is under cordon and searches are going on. (GNS)

J&K Bank concludes recruitment tests, 1.2 lac aspirants appear

Winding the first phase of its massive recruitment drive, J&K Bank on Friday concluded the online-examination for the posts of Probationary officer (PO) and Banking Associate (BA) smoothly and successfully in which around 117000 candidates appeared at 52 centres set up in Jammu, Kashmir, Leh, and outside the state.

The spokesman said that more than 144000 aspirants had applied for the online tests that were held directly by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), Mumbai – an agency of impeccable track record – with technical expertise from the globally acclaimed Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

In five-shifts every day, out of 37512 applicants, 30198 candidates appeared in the online tests for the post of Probationary Officer (PO) on 22nd April while as out of 107198 aspirants, 86683 candidates appeared for the post of Banking Associate (BA) on 24th, 25th, and 26th of April 2019 across the state and outside. The centres included numerous educational institutions and training institutes across the state besides the bank’s Corporate Office, Zonal headquarters and other offices.

Chairman and CEO Parvez Ahmed, who personally oversaw the examinations online from the bank’s corporate headquarters, expressed happiness over the smooth and successful conduct of the overall exams.

Chairman said, “Given the huge number of applications we received and the kind of massive infra-structural arrangements that were required to conduct these examinations online in J&K, I really think that the team J&K Bank has really pulled off a great feat with exceptional competence and required patience.

Commending the teamwork and flawless execution,” he said, “I really feel proud to see that every staff member took pains to ensure that every candidate is treated with compassion and made comfortable while conducting the examination in a fair and transparent manner. In order to ensure smooth conduct of the online recruitment examinations, the bank had established a three-tier Executive Committee structure headed by Executive President (C) and supported by Presidents and Vice Presidents down the line. The designated Presidents and Vice Presidents were part of the special supervisory teams constituted to oversee the smooth conduct of the tests besides monitoring the entire process and progress of these examinations.

Besides, control rooms were set up at the corporate headquarter and at Zonal Office Jammu for monitoring the examinations online and special teams headed by officers from the executive committee the structure were constituted that visited the centers throughout these days ensuring utmost transparency.

On the occasion, Executive President Rajesh Kumar Chhibber, who headed the Multi-tier Executive Structure thanked all the state agencies for extending their support to accomplish such an uphill task and hoped they will continue to do so in future as well.

Notably, the bank had conducted many Mock Test drills across the designated venues besides making links for demo/mock online test available for the candidates on its website for hands-on experience.

Meanwhile, the candidates, parents hail bank for flawless arrangements. Throughout the exams, J&K Bank had made all the necessary arrangements for the specially-abled candidates to ensure their safety, dignity and had dedicated a staff member to accompany every specially-abled candidate to the exam halls. Moreover, the facility for downloading of call-letters in case of need was also kept available at the examination venues. As a goodwill gesture, the candidates who were not able to make it to the examination venue due to some disturbance were allowed to appear on the next day.

The candidates hailed the responsible and disciplined demeanour of bank staff. Both candidates and their parents expressed satisfaction and thanked the bank for the flawless and foolproof arrangement for the candidates at the exam venues.

ADC B’la Reviews Action Plan for Drug De-Addiction Week

Baramulla, April 26: With an aim to ensure smooth celebration of Drug De-Addiction Week commencing from 29th of April to 5th of May, Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Mohammad Ahsan Mir today chaired a meeting to review the action plan for its successful celebration.

Meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, CMO, Medical Superintendent DH, District and Sectoral Officers, President MC B’la, representatives of various NGOs, Civil Societies and others concerned.

On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion with regard to the formulation of different strategies was held wherein it was decided that different activities including awareness camps, seminars, symposiums and other related events shall be organized during the period. It was further decided that several working teams shall be constituted who will work towards identifying the causes and the remedial measures for the total eradication of the menace.

While exhorting upon the concerned officers to work in coordination, ADC said that main motive of celebrating the week is to generate awareness among different sections about drug abuse. He said that drug addiction has an adverse impact on the society especially on our young generation besides terming remedial measures to be taken as the need of hour.

Meanwhile, ADC emphasized upon the concerned agencies to work on the root cause of the evil and took appropriate initiatives with regard to the counseling as well as the rehabilitation of the addicts. He urged upon different stakeholders to play a participative role in this regard. Moreover, it was informed that a drug de-addiction centre had been established by the police department in old hospital Baramulla where the addicts are being provided with the necessary counseling and guidance so that they are relieved from the evil.
