No Pak Soldier or Citizen Died in Balakot Air Strike: Sushma Swaraj

0

Ahmedabad: external affairs minister and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj on Thursday said no Pakistani soldier or citizen died in the air strike carried out by the Indian Air Force across the border in response to the Pulwama terror attack in February.

Addressing women party workers here, she stressed on a 2014-like full majority BJP-led government this time also, saying former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee could not do everything which he wanted to because he was heading a coalition administration.

The IAF had struck a Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist training camp in Pakistan’s Balakot area on February 26, in response to the February 14 Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed.
Swaraj said the air strike was carried out in self-defence.

“When we carried out air strike across the border after the Pulwama terror attack, we had told the international community that we took that step in self-defence only. We had told the international community that the armed forces were instructed not to harm any Pakistani citizen or its soldier during the strike,” she said.

“The Army was told to target only the terror camps of the Jaish-e-Mohammad, which had taken the responsibility for the Pulwama attack. And, our Army did the same without harming any Pakistani citizen or soldier,” said Swaraj.

The foreign minister said the entire international community supported had India over the air strike. Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said he has emerged as a top international leader who sets the agenda for the world.

Referring to the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, Swaraj said the then Congress-led UPA government had failed to take along other countries to isolate Pakistan in the world despite the fact that 40 foreign citizens belonging to 14 countries had also died in the strike.

The External Affairs Minister said Pakistan had raised objection to the invitation extended to India for a meet of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Abu Dhabi last month, but the host county UAE snubbed Islamabad.

Stressing on a full majority government led by the BJP this time also, Swaraj said Vajpayee could not do all the things he wanted because he was heading a coalition government (1998-2004).

Swaraj, who was a minister in the Vajpayee Cabinet also, said coalition governments face pressure. “You must be wondering how Modiji could do so many things in these five years. He could do it because he was heading a full majority government. If he was running a coalition government, then he might have been in some pressure,” she said.

“I have seen it. I was a minister in the Vajpayee government. Atalji wanted to do so many things. But, since he was heading a coalition government, he could not do all those things. Modiji could do it because people gave us a full majority,” said Swaraj.

Strong Govt is Why We Can go Inside Pak and Kill Terrorists Now, Says PM Modi

0

Bagalkot (Karnataka): Prime Minister Narendra Modi Thursday made a pitch for a strong government at the Centre and mocked the “helpless” dispensation of Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, who is heading the Congress-JDS coalition.

“….if you want to see a strong government, look at Delhi; if you want to see a helpless government, see Karnataka,” Modi told a rally here in north Karnataka.
Modi said the Congress wanted a “helpless” government and told the voters to look at the “helpless” Kumaraswamy. He also mocked the frequent emotional outbursts of Kumaraswamy, saying it was “natak” (drama).

Modi said the Congress was not ready to accept surgical strikes and the Balakot air strike on terror camps in Pakistan as our victory. The Congress and its allies think about self and not national interest, he said.

“The strong government that you created in 2014 is the result that today we go inside Pakistan and kill the terrorists and Pakistan cries and asks for help,” he said.

“….Opponents Googled to find out where Balakot was and went to prove that it was within India. They could not believe that India could attack going inside Pakistan territory…,” Modi said.

The PM hit out at Kumaraswamy, saying, “The chief minister said clearly that Balakot should not become a big issue (in the polls) because his vote bank will get angry. Tell me is the coalition’s vote bank in Bagalkot or Balakot?”
Stating that the Congress-led government went crying around post the Mumbai terror attacks, he said the situation had changed now. “….now, wherever Pakistan goes you hear its cries that Modi is hitting them.”

Modi said whenever there was a threat to its existence, Congress tried to divide society.

PM Modi blames Nehru for Kashmir Problem

0

SRINAGAR, APR 18 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday alleged that India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru kept Sardar Patel away from the Kashmir issue and the nation was now bearing the brunt of it.

While addressing a rally in Gujarat’s, Modi said: “Jawarharlal Nehru had asked Sardar Patel to leave Kashmir issue to him and do everything else and now we are facing [the brunt of] it. Has Modi created the Kashmir issue? It’s a Congress legacy.”

He added, “When our 40 jawans were killed in a Pulwama attack in Pulwama, the Congress was conspiring to corner me over the attack but within 12 days, our jawans carried out air strikes in Pakistan.”

“Fearing retaliation from India, Pakistan had deployed all its army personnel at India’s border. Pakistan even shifted its jawans from the Afghanistan border and deployed them here. During this time, I went to South Korea and they believed that Modi will not do anything as he is in South Korea but they don’t know who Modi is. I gave a free hand to the army. Pakistan thought Modi is from Gujarat so India’s jawans will come through the sea route. But we carried out surprise air strikes,” Modi said.  (PTK)

Won’t be surprised if an attack on Pak is in the offing: Mehbooba on LoC trade suspension

0

Srinagar: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said that she won’t be surprised if India attacks Pakistan.

The Peoples Democratic President was reacting to suspension of cross LoC trade by government of India.

The only female chief minister of state taking to her Twitter handle lashed out at the BJP for the decision and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had dismantled a confidence building measure initiated by Atal Bihari Vajpayee “Using Kashmir as a scapegoat to claw its way back to power won’t help BJP. It’s an excuse to worsen ties with Pak despite their peace overtures. By doing this PM Modi has dismantled a CBM Initiated by Vajpayee ji .Won’t be surprised if an attack on Pak is in the offing.”She wrote.

Earlier in the day the Ministry of Home Affairs  issued orders to suspend the LoC trade between Jammu & Kashmir and Pak administered Kashmir (PaK) saying  the step has been taken in view of the trade routes being misused by Pakistan based elements.“This action has been taken as the Government of India has been receiving reports that the Cross LoC trade routes are being misused by the Pakistan based elements for funnelling illegal weapons, narcotics and fake currency etc,” said the MHA in a release.

People will not forgive Mehbooba Mufti for unleashing torments on them: NC

0

Bejbehara, Apr 18 : Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Thursday said that people of Kashmir have lost faith in PDP saying that the people would never forgive Mufti’s for betraying and berating their verdict in 2014 by forging alliance with BJP-RSS.

Addressing an election campaign rally at Bijbehara, party’s senior leader Muhammad Akbar Lone said that there is no sympathy for Mehbooba Mufti on ground and that the people of Bijbehara will not forgive her for unleashing torments on the people particularly the people of Bijbehara, who had reposed faith in her during 2014 elections.

“Today she is again coming forth with the same set of promises she made while canvassing for assembly elections in 2014. However what followed is an open secret, it cannot be articulated in words, there aren’t any alphabets that can reveal the massive pain the people of Kashmir particularly the people of south Kashmir are going through,” he said.

“When enjoying the benefits of power, she had bolted her mouth. People who had voted for her were dejected by her changed outlook. People still remember how sordidly she mocked the death and misery of hundreds of families who had to shoulder the coffins of their beloved, with her ‘milk and toffee’ remarks. People remember how appallingly she had asserted that the guns of security forces aren’t for display but action. She shamelessly stuck to her chair when the youth who had voted for her were being fired upon. She didn’t have the gumption to bid good bye to BJP when scores of our youth, and elderly were being blinded and maimed. On the contrary she barefacedly presided over the relentless miseries of people. How can people forget her treachery and political duplicity? People across the state particularly in Kashmir are bidding goodbye to the PDP’s brand of politics, which is based on duplicity, crude lies and political Shenanigans. Mehbooba is herself admitting the fact that people of the state, in particular her workers are disgruntled with her.PDP is a spent force, it never was any; the edifice of PDP has stumbled down under the weight of its own deceit and falsehood,” he said.

Party’s South Zone President Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, while addressing the public meet, said, “Today we see Mehbooba Ji taking pledges for the protection of state’s special status. How can she assume that she can fool people all the time? If she thinks on these lines then she is surely living in a fool’s paradise, people who come to spend time at the Dara Shikoh Park don’t veer around her late father’s tomb, the reason we all know is the doomed embrace of Mufti’s with BJP-RSS. When Mehbooba Ji was told to bow down by BJP, she crawled before them. There is nothing which suggests that she won’t join hands with the BJP in the future also.

He further added, “PDP is still in a tacit alliance with BJP; the way PDP supported BJP’s candidate for the post of deputy chairman of Lokh Sabha reveals it all. Nonetheless, how can she protect the sanctity of our flag now when she couldn’t stand for the interests of Kashmir when in government with BJP? On the contrary, it was she who allowed the implementation of SARFAESI, and NFSA in J&K. what was left of our autonomy; Mufti’s took it upon them to obliterate it. How can she protect it now?”

The leaders who addressed the public meet sought huge winning margin for party’s Anantnag parliamentary constituency candidate Retired Justice Hasnain Masoodi. The leaders said that Masoodi has been known for his pronounced judgments on the special status of J&K. They said that he is the best person to voice for state’s interests both inside and outside parliament.

Among others retired Justice Hasnain Masooodi, Peer Muhammad Hussnain also addressed the public meet and impressed upon the people to rally round the flag of National Conference.
