With JKCA scam, Farooq Abdullah set new standards of thievery: Sajad Lone

0

Srinagar, Apr 14 : Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone has yet again asked Omar Abdullah to clarify whether he met the top brass of the BJP post 2014 Assembly election results to discuss government formation.

“It is time you give a clear answer. You have projected yourself as the sole warrior to save the people of Kashmir from the BJP. But if you were in talks with them for government formation, you will have to come out and tell the people that all along you have been lying and that you are a covert BJP stooge, have allied with them in the past and will ally with them in the future”, Sajad said in a statement.

He said that this theatre enacted by Omar Abdullah has to come to an end.

“You want to project yourself as the new ideological defender. You can’t take on that role. You are bereft of any ideology. Lust for power does not add up to an ideology. We will keep on reminding you about the talks that you held with the BJP for government formation. We have reminded you earlier and we will remind you again”, he added.

Sajad said that Farooq Abdullah has time and again gone out of the way to lick up to BJP-RSS.

“The sole reason Farooq Sahib raised slogans of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ at a function to remember late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was to keep the RSS in good humor. The sole reason Farooq Abdullah wanted to start the construction of Ram Mandir temple was to keep them in good humor”, he added.

In response to the allegations levelled by Farooq Abdullah, Sajad said that the last person on mother earth to lecture about morality is Dr. Farooq Abdullah.

“A person charge sheeted by the CBI and out on bail, for stealing 120 crores in the JKCA scam, is the new sermonizer of financial morality in the town. If anything goes to credit of Farooq sahib, it is in terms of setting new standards of thievery. Dr. Farooq sahib sits on assets worth thousands of crores and is the most notorious mismatch between known sources of income and wealth holding. I promise I will apologize publicly if you are able to match your income with the huge wealth that you have accumulated. It would take an entire book to record the details of loot and plunder. Under Omar Abdullah regime a non-state subject friend was inducted as a director in the JK Bank, who gained the sobriquet of corporate broker. Hundreds of crores were loaned to non-state subject companies who were blacklisted or on the verge of joining the category of NPA. It is a well known fact that the commission rate going for granting loans was 2-5%. So will ‘Mr. 2-5%’ aka Omar Abdullah tell us what his net earnings was from the kickbacks received from these companies? We will come up with details very soon”, he added.

Self rule most pragmatic approach to resolve Kashmir issue: Mehbooba

0

Srinagar, Apr 14 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday termed PDP’s self rule formula the most pragmatic approach to resolve the decades old Kashmir conflict and reiterated that peace will remain elusive in the state unless peoples’ aspirations aren’t taken into account by both India and Pakistan.

Addressing worker’s convention in South Kashmir’s Kulgam, Mehbooba said that the world has now realised how Kashmir issue, if allowed to remain unsettled, could become a major cause for pushing both India and Pakistan towards brink of a nuclear war. She said that it is high time that both the countries for their greater common good address Kashmir issue on priority and to begin with, PDP’s Self Rule formula is the best option as already described by the saner voices of South Asia.

“It was Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who made confidence building measures and engagement both internally and externally the most inseparable features of Kashmir and made people at the helm in New Delhi and Islamabad realize that Jammu and Kashmir could be opened up to the rest of the world through all our traditional routes to China, central Asia and other geographies. We have been demanding that the two fragmented parts of Kashmir must be made into a single unit without changing borders and free trade, free movement of people, students and professionals, joint initiatives in tourism and education is initiated,” Mehbooba said.

The former chief minister said that the day coalition government in the state fell in June last year, she had cautioned against the adoption of muscular approach for Kashmir will turn the situation more gruesome and worrying. However, according to the PDP President, it seems that there is only muscular policy and no other policy that has been adopted for the people of Kashmir

She added that peace state’s permanent feature, announcement of mega development projects and opening up the doors of coffers will not help in any way as these policies have failed to yield the desired results and they will fail in the future also.“We have to learn from what is happening around the world including Afghanistan where there is a thrust on dialogue and Pakistan has been counted as a major stake holder. Talks is the only way forward and it is only through non-confrontational approach that we will be able to give our coming generations a safer and tranquil place to live. Making peace of graveyard prevalent and never worked and will never work,” said Mehbooba.

PDP leaders who attended the convention include Sartaj Madni, Nazir Ahmad Laway, Abdul Majeed Padar, Abdul Ghafar Sofi, Mohammad Amin Dar, Gh Mohi-ud-din, Sheikh Talib Hussain and several others.

Furthermore, NC leader Bashir Ahmad Malik joined PDP and was welcomed by the party President into the party fold.

Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India, won’t allow separate PM for the state: PM Modi in Kathua

0

The outgoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of India and that no one would be allowed to demand for a separate prime minister for the state.

“Pakistan was also saying that we have nuclear weapons. But everyone knows what we did. We will never allow those people to succeed who want a separate prime minister for the state. Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India,” said Modi while addressing an election rally in Kathua.

Former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah had said that if his party comes back to power they will strive to restore the pre-1953 position of the state, having Sadr-e-Riyasat (governor) and prime minister.
“I will never allow ‘Do Nishan, Do Vidhan and Do Pradhan’ (Two constitutions, two flags and Two sovereign heads) to rule in our land. Ours motive is that of Syama Prasad Mukherjee,” PM Modi said.
He said that Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) commitment and ‘Desh Ka Chowkidar’ (referring to himself) carried the same emotions as Syama Prasad Mukherjee.

Lashing out at the two main regional parties, National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he said that three generations of the state have been destroyed by their “dynastic” rule.

“Three generations of the state got destroyed by Abdullahs and Muftis. But I am standing like a wall in front of them. This Chowkidar is here to throw them out of power,” the PM said.

He said that even if all the relatives of both the parties come to help them in this election the people will still vote against them.

Criticizing the Indian National Congress (INC), PM Modi said they won’t succeed in ‘disintegrating’ the ‘motherland’ (India). He said that Congress is doing everything to come back to power.

“They (Congress) want to do away with the AFSPA but the BJP will never allow them to do so,” Modi said.
He said that the armed forces and security agencies operating in the state need the protection of the AFSPA.
The Prime Minister also held Congress responsible for the migration of Kashmiri Pandits.
“It was because of Congress flawed policies that Kashmiri Pandits had to flee from the state,” PM said. (GK)

Militants planning another Pulwama-like attack on J&K Highway, Forces on Alert after Intelligence inputs

0

Srinagar: A possible ‘militant’ attack is likely on the Jammu and Kashmir highway on Sunday morning, intelligence agencies have reportedly alerted the security forces. Further, the inputs suggest that in all likelihood a motorbike may be used to carry out the blast.

As per the sources quoted by Zee News, the inputs generated by the intelligence agencies have revealed that the possible ‘terrorist’ attack may be triggered using a remote control.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the specific information, security has been enhanced along the highway.

To avert the attack, officials have directed all security forces convoy to start after 9 AM.

According to a report prepared by investigative and security agencies working in the counter-terrorism grid in Jammu and Kashmir, the commonly used anti-theft remote alarms or keys used in motorcycles and vehicles are being increasingly used by militants o trigger improvised explosive devices (IED) in the state.

Sometime back, an IED attack was engineered to target the personnel of the Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) unit in Shopian district and it was found that the explosive was triggered using a remote key used to lock and unlock a two-wheeler.

Analysing the history of IED blasts in Kashmir, the report found that the terrorists were using military-grade explosives such as RDX, PETN (Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate), TNT (Trinitrotoluene) and commercial explosives such as slurries and ammonium nitrate for fabricating IEDs.

It added that the terrorists continue to use the ‘rudimentary’ command-wire mechanism (by joining wires) to blast IEDs, probably to ‘hit the targets precisely’.

Earlier on February 14 this year, the state witness one of the worst terrorist attacks in a decade.

Forty Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were killed in a militant attack in Pulwama district after an explosive-laden truck rammed into a bus in their convoy.

The Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) had claimed the responsibility of the attack.

Meanwhile, mobile internet services snapped in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. (Zee News)
