0

Srinagar, April 13 : “Policy of suppression and repression in Jammu and Kashmir has failed to yield any positive results for India. Through the elongated period of ordeal and barbarism since 1947, India is currently facing a powerful people’s political movement for right to self-determination in every nook and corner of the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” said the Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani while paying tributes to militants killed in Shopian encounter.

“India is suffering from arrogance of power and has tried its best to muzzle our voice, but has utterly failed to do so, and the Indian might can never deter us from our much cherished goal of right to self-determination,” Geelani said in a statement issued.

Reiterating his appeal for election boycott, Hurriyat (G) chairman said participation in any election sponsored by New Delhi amounts to “treason and betrayal with martyrs’ blood and disgrace for sacrifices rendered by our nation”.

“We believe, any election process, India tries to conduct, is nothing but an armed drill to threaten the common people,” he said, adding, “We need to strengthen our faith and as a nation we need to be optimistic.”

BJP’s promise to abrogate Art 370 only a hoax, aimed to fool voters: Soz

0

Srinagar, Apr 13 : Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader, Prof. Saifuddin Soz Saturday said that the promise to abrogate Article 370 by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was only a hoax, aimed to fool voters.

“There is a stake in my library where the BJP Manifestos for 1998, 2004, 2009, 2014 & 2019 are in a Pile! All Manifestos assert that Article 370 of the Indian Constitution would be abrogated. The hoax had been maneuvered for the gullible voters to be hoodwinked for winning a particular election!” Soz said in a statement issued.

One can understand Amit Shah’s compulsion to decide 2019 results in his mind, he said, adding that Amit Shah and the likes of him in the RSS/BJP, know fully that Article 370 can neither be abrogated nor amended, against the will of the people of J&K State.

“The strangest part of this electoral game has been that a sane man like Atal Behari Vajpayee too had been made part to this meaningless and misleading narrative! The moot point is that Modi-Amit Shah duo and other die-hard elements in the RSS/BJP camp are desperately raising a rhetoric which has been woven together with a deeply divisive and communal propaganda, has already caused harm to a secular and pluralistic polity that India had to be!,” he added.

“How much harm the democratic and secular institutions of Indian polity have suffered during BJP/RSS dispensation, will be known only when this dispensation is out. It is a very unfortunate situation for India!,” Soz said.

Senior Congress leader further stated that some knowledgeable people still believe that late Kanshi Ram’s “Social Engineering” is at work in the States like UP and Bihar, where Dalits, Yadavs, Jats, other economically backward sections and minorities have started working on a ‘Formula of Togetherness.’

“Many members of the national opposition feel convinced that this Formula will work in Election- 2019! Let us see what happens,” he added.

After a Victory march in Baramulla, PC all set to march in to Srinagar

0

Srinagar, Apr 13 : Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Saturday said that Omar Abdullah seems to have suddenly discovered a sense of humor or has lost touch with the ground.

“NC has lost Baramulla. PC has taken the seat convincingly. While we are quiet with humility, the loser is beating drums of victory after fearing a repeat of Baramulla loss in the Srinagar Parliamentary seat. We fought on an agenda of truthfulness and were up against some of the worst falsehood propagated by the NC. One fine day the NC would announce that they are restoring the Prime Minister and Sadar-e-Riyasat posts. The next day they would announce removing the PSA. This is the same NC which has been an active participant in abolishing these posts. This is the same NC whose leader Sheikh Sahib, an ex PM of Kashmir, happily took oath as the Chief Minister of Kashmir in lieu of power in 1975. This is the same NC which in 1975 passed the Constitutional order 101 dated 23-07-1975 grievously eroding the special status. This is the same NC which scripted the Land grants bill. This is the same NC which opened the flood gates for leasing out thousands of kanals to defense establishment”, he added.

Sajad said that NC is vehemently propagating the falsehood of conspiracies being hatched when they are out of power.

“The biggest conspiracy hatched against the Kashmiris has been the NC. Delhi in league with the NC stole an entire election to keep them in power and when people rose in revolt, it was primarily against the NC. Does the NC forget that they along with their leader Farooq Abdullah fled the state in 1989 leaving their workers behind? Have they forgotten that the word NC was a stigma in 1989? Have they forgotten how NC workers would issue statements in newspapers distancing themselves from the NC? In the aftermath of 1987 robbery of elections leading up to the revolt of 1989, the top NC leadership fled and while we were all facing brutalities, being jailed, killed, beaten up, Farooq sahib and the future tormentor of Kashmiris Omar Abdullah spent most of the time in Europe and Delhi. These special tourists were thrust yet again on Kashmiris in 1996 when yet another entire election was stolen to hand power on platter. I ask the people of Kashmir.

Sajad further said that NC’s politics is based on mastering the art of Complaisance.

“A party, a dynasty which is indebted to the core to Delhi for protecting them, for installing them in 1975, stealing for them in 1987 and reinstalling them in 1996- would they ever be able to stand up to them? They have been in power for 36 years. Can they give us one instance when they stood up and showed real defiance? They are compulsive compliers. Have we forgotten what L K Advani wrote in is book? How Farooq Abdullah when asked to choose between a discussion on autonomy resolution and Omar Abdullah’s junior union ministry, chose the junior ministry for junior Abdullah”, he added.

Sajad said that Farooq Abdullah’s utterances against the Mayor Mr. Junaid Matto are deplorable and shameful.

“Just imagine the difference in ages. While Farooq sahib is marching towards mid eighties, young Junaid is barely in mid thirties. Does it behoove Farooq sahib to say that insects will eat him up in his grave, does it behoove him to say that he has forgotten the grave. It is Farooq Sahib who has all along forgotten the grave. Rather than fighting the elections he should have settled with a prayer mat. And instead he has the temerity to say such things about a young person, blooming in his youth. We really are not surprised given the thousands of youth who have perished at your hands. We still have an unsolicited piece of advice. Take to the prayer mat, if you have one given that it will take hundreds of years for you to atone your sins”, he added.

“To divert attention from its failures on core governance issues, BJP politicizing the institution of Army”

Srinagar, Apr 13: Cautioning people of the state about nefarious designs of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) to target special status & identity of the J&K, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday asked people to stand in unison against divisive forces and actively participate in the ongoing parliament elections.

“BJP has already publicized its agenda against our very identity and the special status. Now it is working on a plan to divide us and weaken our fight against such nefarious designs. We have to stand guard of our identity and interests as a Muslim majority state across linguistic and sectarian differences. Because they want to widen these fault lines and weaken our fight against their anti-kashmir plans,” Mehbooba said.

Mufti was addressing massive public meetings at Chadoora and Khan Sahib Assembly segments of Budgam district to garner support in favor of the party candidate for Srinagar Lok Sabha seat, Aga Sayed Mohsin.

She said that attempts were being made by New Delhi to weaken Jammu and Kashmir politically as well as economically. “We are facing an onslaught on our special status from New Delhi. I have fought it both within and outside the government. My party always stood firm on the core issues without any compromise. Our track record is certificate of our integrity. Today we have to stay united and fight a collective battle to thwart attacks on our identity. We must participate with fervor in the ongoing elections so as to strengthen PDP send our best representatives to defend our special status and identity in the Parliament of India.”, she said.

Asked what she thought of the letter written by many veterans to the president of India complaining of brazen politicizing of the institution of the armed forces by the BJP, Mehbooba said that BJP has utterly failed on the fundaments of governance and has been trying to cover-up these failures in run up to the elections by politicizing the institution of the army.

“BJP’s record is miserable on account of job creation, economy, development, and there are serious charges of corruption. Since they have no answers to questions on these issues, they take refuge in the brazen and blatant politicization of the institution of the army,” she said.

Other leaders  who addressed the gatherings include senior leader Dr Mehboob Beg, Party’s Candidate of Srinagar  Lok Sabha Seat Agha Syed Mohsin,,  Party general secretary and former minister Gh Nabi Lone Hanjura, District President Budgam Muntazir Mohi ud din, District President  Srinagar and Honorable MLC Muhammad Khurshid Alam,  Constituency In charge Chadoora Muhamd Yaseen and Provincial youth president Nazir Ahmad Yattoo.
