Petrol Bomb hurled in Srinagar

Unknown persons hurled Petrol Bomb towards CRPF Bunker at Gojwara Chowk of Down Town Srinagar on Friday evening.

Reports reaching said a CRPF banker was attacked with petrol bomb by unknown persons , however in the attack no loss of life or injury was reported.

Meanwhile whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

Army man dies of cardiac arrest in Poonch

Poonch, April 12: An army soldier died due to cardiac arrest in Kerni sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

A police official told GNS that a soldier, NK Bhawan Kumar of 39 RR suffered cardiac arrest at Kerni sector along LoC while he was on duty.

He was immediately shifted to district hospital Poonch where doctors declared him dead on arrival, said the official. (GNS)

Udhampur man dies under mysterious circumstances in Shopian

Srinagar, April 12 : Police have launched a probe after a man from Udhampir was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Meluhra area of Shopian district in south Kashmir on Friday.

Officials told GNS that Yaseen Ali son of Talib Hussain, a resident of Udhampur, along with his colleague yesterday evening arrived at Meluhra village to stay at the house of local resident Farooq Ahmad Alie for the night.

Talib did not wake up this morning and was shifted to a nearby hospital in an unconscious state, they said.

Talib and his colleagues according to reports dealt with Auto Rikshaws.

The doctors at the health facility declared him as brought dead, they said.

A police officer said that the man died under mysterious conditions and as such they have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case under 174 CrPc in this regard. (GNS)

Two girls injured as Cross-LoC shelling continues in Poonch

Poonch, April 12 : Two teenage girls were injured as armies of India and Pakistan traded fire in Sawjiyan sector along LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

Officials told GNS that Tasvir Akther daughter of Abdul Rashid and Shubeena Akthar daughter of Mumtaz Khan, both residents of Chapprian, Sawjiyan received injuries after some Pakistani shells landed in the residential areas.

A police officer confirmed the injuries and said that both the girls were hospitalised.

The officer said that Pakistani army violated ceasefire by targeting Indian Army’s posts in the area with mortar shells and small arms.

The officer said that the soldiers manning the fence responded strongly.

When reports last came in the cross-border shelling was going on. (GNS)

Dr Veeri condemns killing of teenager, terms it terrible loss

Srinagar: National conference South Kashmir Zone president and former MLC, Dr. Veeri has strongly condemned killing of teenager in Langate area of Kupawara district during clashes with forces.

Dr Veeri said such shocking events are adding to the already deteriorate situation in Kashmir.

“When we will have children getting killed even on the day when people are casting vote what kind of message will it send,” Dr Veeri said.

“Losing a teenager on a day when people are voting while hoping for better situation is beyond shocking, such terrible loss of innocent children will end up making situation more worse,” he said.

Dr Veeri while calling for an impartial probe into the killing said that such drastic events are in no one’s favor.

“I express my deepest condolences to that family who has lost their son,” Dr veeri said.

Pakistan violates ceasefire along LoC in Poonch

POONCH, 12 :Pakistani troops on Friday violated the ceasefire by targeting forward posts and villages along the Line of Control in Poonch district, a defence Sources said.

The mortar shelling and small arms firing from across the border started in Sawjiyan sectors around 8. 15.am in morning, he said.

The cross-border firing between the two sides was continuing when last reports were received, he said, adding that there was no report of any casualty on the Indian side.(GNS)

10 police cops injured in Baramulla road mishap

Baramulla, April 12 : At least ten Jammu and Kashmir policemen sustained serious injuries after the vehicle in which they were traveling in met with an accident in north Kashmir’s Baramulla village on early Friday.

Reports reaching GNS said a private vehicle on election duty was on it’s way to Srinagar from Dangiwacha when the driver of the Vehicle lost Control on his speed due to slippery condition on road due to fresh rains at Trekpora area of Rafiabad on Friday morning.

Reports said that in the mishap atleast ten cops received serious injuries and were rushed to District Hospital Baramulla for advance treatment.

Meanwhile authorities at Hospital also confirmed this road mishap to GNS and identified all injured as Constable Bhopal, Constable Ravi Kumar, Constable Anil Kumar , Constable Mohamed Shafi , Constable Vishal Kumar, Constable Asif Yousuf , Constable Syed Tanveer , Constable Mehraj ul Din and Constable Tariq Ahmed. Authorities at DH Baramulla further said
that all the injured cops are said to be stable and are undergoing treatment.(GNS)

14 year old boy found dead in Baramulla

Baramulla, April 12 : A 14 year old boy found dead in north Kashmir’s Baramulla on early Friday.

Reports reaching GNS said a dead body of a 14 year old local resident identified as Mubashir Ahmed Dar alias (Chotu) son of Mohammad Ashraf Dar
was spotted this morning by some locals at Gani Hamaam area of old town Baramulla.

SSP Baramulla Abdul Qayoom also confirmed the incident to GNS and said on getting information from locals, a police team reached the spot, and are verifying the incident.(GNS)

Teenager’s killing result of force used with sense of impunity: Shah Faesal

Srinagar: Reacting to the killing of a school student in Langate area of North Kashmir today after the end of elections, the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) chairman Shah Faesal said such incidents are result of disproportionate force being used against the protesters.

Mr. Faesal said that he was very saddened to know about the killing of a teenager in Langate. “A great day has ended on a very sour note. Such killings are a result of disproportionate force being used against the protesters, with a sense of impunity,” said Mr. Faesal.

He also added that these incidents are getting repeated inspite of the public outrage and magisterial enquiries ordered everytime. “Those responsible for this gruesome murder should be booked immediately,” he added. “The government can set an example by arresting the accused personnel on the basis of prima facie evidence.”

Elderly woman dies after casting vote in Sumbal Bandipora

Bandipora,April 11 : An elderly woman died after casting her vote in Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday.


Reports said a 60 year old Hajira Begum wife of Mohammad Ashraf Chakan of Bun Nowgam Sumbal died fell unconscious after casting her vote at polling booth in Nowgam , however she was rushed to nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.


Meanwhile police took cognizance of this incident.
