Terrorism is now confined to J&K: PM Modi

0

SRINAGAR, MAR 29 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said citizens in the country were moving forward sans any fear as the ‘chowkidar’ has been ‘alert’ for the past five years.

Asking the people of Telangana to vote for a ‘new India’, PM Modi said that he worked honestly and religiously to ease the life of common people. “Terrorism is now confined to J&K. You no longer hear of news of bomb explosions as it was five years ago,” he said while addressing a mammoth public rally in Telangana.

“Your blessings allowed me to tolerate all kinds of pressures. That’s why I could run a decision-making government,” he said.

He asserted that his government has tightened the noose on supporters of the terrorists and people no longer ‘hear of news of bomb explosions as it was five years ago.’

“The noose has been tightened on the supporters of the terrorists. We go across the border and annihilate the hotbeds of militants. This new identity of India gives energy to New India,” the prime minister said.

Further, the country’s security had improved as bomb blasts were now virtually “confined to only some parts of Kashmir,” while there have been no attacks in other parts, he said. (PTK)

The first song, Chol Homa Roshay, from Ashvin Kumar’s upcoming film, No Fathers In Kashmir is out now and is soothing not just to the eyes but also to the ears. It is a popular Kashmiri folk song that has been brought to life with beautiful visuals from the valley, Hindustan Times reported.

The report said that the song was originally written and sung by celebrated Kashmiri poet, Habba Khatoon who is also referred to as the Nightingale of Kashmir. The soulful lyrics are a cry for love and have been beautifully picturised on young protagonists — British girl Noor (Zara Webb) and a local Kashmiri boy Majid (Shivam Raina).

Chol Homa Roshay is a rendition of the folk song which is sacred to the part of Kashmir and their heritage. The song was brought to life by Kashmiri singer Ali Saifuddin whose vocals were sent to French music composers -Loik Dury and Christophe ‘Disco’ Minck to create the new version.

“The song has been recorded in a female version as well by the London based Perkins sisters,” said the report.

The report said that No Fathers in Kashmir stars director Ashvin along with Soni Razdan, Anshuman Jha and Kulbushan Kharbanda. The film revolves around two teenagers (Zara and Shivam), who are on a dangerous journey to find their missing fathers. They reach a treacherous area near the Indo-Pak border and are arrested. Noor is released since she is British and then decides to help Majid get his freedom.

The newspaper quoted Soni’s husband and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt as having said at the film’s trailer launch, “A staggering, heart-wrenching film. Ashvin has the guts to embrace all that darkness and then having done that bring us so much light. In these dark times of hate, here’s a love story from the blood-soaked valley of Kashmir, which has the audacity to hope.”

According to a report talking about the film, Soni had said, “When I read this script, I found it very interesting because here was a film that showed the reality. There have been many films on Kashmir but this one isn’t peppered by drama, love stories and other things. It’s what truly is representative of how the situation is in the valley. And that’s what drew me to the film”.

Stop lying through your teeth, are you powerful or powerless: Sajad asks Omar

0

Srinagar, Mar 28   :  Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone today while castigating Omar Abdullah’s statement to not allow NIA intimidate Kashmiris said that the agency was created by NC’s alliance partner when Dr. Abdullah was a member of the cabinet.

While responding to question on Omar Abdullah’s statement that he will not allow NIA to intimidate Kashmiris, Sajad said that “I am amazed how Omar Abdullah lies through his teeth. The NIA as an institution was created by the Congress when the NC & Congress was in alliance and Dr. Farooq Abdullah was the member of the Cabinet. I don’t remember even a single statement issued by Dr. Farooq Abdullah or Omar Abdullah, who was at that time the Chief Minister, voicing concern about the sweeping powers given to NIA.”

Sajad further said that “Omar Abdullah needs to tell us, is he powerful enough to stop intimidation or is he powerless. If he is indeed so powerful, then why did he not use those powers in the past? He could have used his powers to stop Afzal Guru’s hanging or at least get his body back to Kashmir. Why did Dr. Farooq Abdullah not use his powers to stop Maqbool Bhat’s hanging? If they are powerless then they are lying through their teeth and if they are powerful then they are not utilizing their powers and allowing executions and all sorts of atrocities on the Kashmiris.

Meanwhile more than 250 political workers from NC & PD joined Peoples Conference in presence of Chairman Sajad Gani Lone, General Secretary Imran Reza Ansari. Among those who joined the party include former PDP Youth Distt President Budgam Aftab Ahmed Mir, prominent NC leader from Budgam Choudhary Riyaz Badana, member of Gurduwara Prabhandak Committee Budgam Sardar Parvinder Singh, Altaf Ahmed Khan and Shah Ali Mohammed.
