Kangana Ranaut attacks Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, says star kids will discuss their sex lives but not their country

0

In a no-holds-barred interview, actor Kangana Ranaut has again taken on filmmaker Karan Johar and actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, saying they are the people who feel absolutely exclusive and believe they have nothing to do with the rest of the country.

Questioning the tag of ‘young stars’ accorded to Alia and Ranbir, the actor told Mid-Day, “And what is this thing of calling them young, Ranbir Kapoor is what 37 years old, young kid of the generation and Alia Bhatt just turned turned 27, my mother had three children at 27. This is absolutely unfair… bacche hai ki dumb hai ki kya hai.” Alia turned 26 this month while Ranbir is 36-year-old.

She went on to say, “If we are asking about your sex life, that you are okay to discuss, put the pictures on Instagram, who I am fing, who I am not fing, that is fine but about the country, it’s my personal choice.”

She also spoke about singling out Ranbir in an earlier interview for not commenting on issues of national importance. “These are people who feel absolutely exclusive, saying one has nothing to do with the rest of India. This is the kind of attitude that Karan Johar and gang thrive on. And a lot of negative PR about me has been happening from these people. Maybe you don’t know, but I know who gives out news [about me]. That’s why whenever I do something; it is to put them in their place.”

She also touched on the infamous ‘horse video’ which leaked after Manikarnika’s release. Kangana was seen shooting an action scene on a mechanical horse and it led to many jokes and memes on social media. “I am me, and you are you, is where the words ‘nepotism’, and ‘outsider’, come from; because they feel superior to others. We need to question that, and the fact that I also know who had released that horse video. If I tell you the name, you will be shocked.”

She also said many in Bollywood are insecure because of her. “Tanu Weds Manu is still ahead of many heroes’ highest grossers. And with Manikarnika, people are saying no hero has ever done action like this. So, it is frightening many people — making them feel, ki hamari bhi period film aayegi, will we be compared? If in your business, journalism, it is not as simple as it looks, then how can it be in mine?”.

HDFC Bank named India’s Best Digital Bank 2019 by Asiamoney

0

HDFC Bank, an Indian banking and financial service company, was adjudged the ‘Best Digital Bank’ in India at the AsiaMoney Best Bank Awards 2019.

It has been awarded the title on the basis of its best-in-class digital banking initiatives. The bank’s journey to become a digital banking forerunner began in 2014, with the launch of its ‘Bank AapkiMuthhi Mein’ campaign from the banks of the Ganges.

Since then it has gone on to launch many customer favourites such as the 10-second Personal Loan, Custom-Fit Auto Loans, Digital Loan Against Securities, Digital Loan Against Mutual Funds, and PayZapp.

The bank has made major strides in tapping new technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, chatbots and the internet of things, in its digital banking services. Platforms such as the annual Digital Innovation Summit – where the start-ups can showcase innovative solutions to the bank- are some of the ways the bank is ensuring that it stays future-ready.

Asiamoney’s award decisions are made by a team of senior journalists, chaired by Euromoney’s editor, after receiving detailed submissions from market participants. They are reviewed in conjunction with research into the banking and capital markets by the editorial committee. This preliminary information is personally verified by a team of senior editors who visit each country to meet leading bankers and gather client and competitor feedback. The publication stated that when it sat down in early 2019 with the chief executives of India’s banks and asked them to identify the best provider of digital banking services, the answer came back crisp and clear: HDFC Bank.

Commenting on the award, Asiamoney wrote in its editorial, “Over the last two years, under the leadership of longstanding managing director Aditya Puri, HDFC has become a genuine digital force. This is in large part because it chose to take a step back, take a hard look at what services customers wanted, and start working toward those goals.”

“It is also engaging with digital on digital’s terms, by encouraging chaos now with the aim of harnessing it later. Thus, an annual ‘hackathon’ encourages individuals and startups to compete to solve emerging digital-use cases, while its user-experience lab acts as a digital laboratory, harnessing and honing ideas to ensure that HDFC Bank is delivering best-in-class services to its customers. It is all overseen by a digital command centre that brings real-time intelligence to the group, helping HDFC Bank to make informed commercial and strategic decisions,” it added in the editorial. The legal restriction that bars Indians from owning property in Jammu Kashmir is ‘constitutionally vulnerable’ and ‘discriminatory’, Arun Jaitley wrote on Thursday.

“It is used as a political shield by many but it hurt the common citizen of the state the most,” Jaitley said in a Facebook post.

“It denied them a booming economy, economic activity and jobs.” The comments come ahead of general elections to be held in phases starting from April 11, at which Modi is seeking re-election.

Campaigning is likely to be dominated by issues of national security, and Kashmir in particular.

Hitting back at Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for advocating repeal of special status of Jammu and Kashmir, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said on Saturday that the relationship between the Union and the state would be over if Article 370 of the Constitution is revoked.

“Jaitley must understand this. It is not an easy thing to say. If you scrap (Article) 370, your relation with J-K will be over,” Mehbooba told party workers at her residence here.

Jaitley had on Thursday advocated repeal of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and said Article 35A, which restricts non-permanent residents to buy property in Jammu and Kashmir, is “constitutionally vulnerable” and also hampering economic development of the state.

‘No Fathers in Kashmir’ deserves to be watched, appeals Soni Razdan

0

Veteran actor Soni Razdan believes her upcoming film “No Fathers in Kashmir” will give the audience a better understanding of the regular lives of the people in the conflict-ridden Valley.

The film, directed by Ashvin Kumar, revolves around the love story of two 16 year olds who are searching for their missing fathers.

“Kashmir deserves our attention. This film deserves to be seen… It will help people understand more about Kashmir. Even I was more curious and interested to know about Kashmir when I came on board,” Razdan told PTI.

“Ours is a unique film but I hope it should attract audience to the theatres because it is an Razdanentertaining film. It is neither a commercial film nor an art film. It is somewhere in between,” she added.

“No Fathers in Kashmir” had a tumultuous journey to the theatres, facing problems in getting a Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) clearance.

It was initially offered an ‘A’ certificate but the makers protested. On March 11, following two hearings in December and January, the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) announced the film fit for U/A certification.

Razdan said she always feels excited when any of her projects makes it to the big screen, but believes the influx of digital medium has given filmmakers another platform to showcase their work.

“It is always wonderful to have a theatrical release, lot of filmmakers desire that. We want people to come to theatres. (But) The digital space is becoming more relevant and people are watching a lot of stuff on web. I feel nothing is lost to mankind if the film doesn’t release in a theatre,” she said.

The actor credits Kumar for bringing a beautiful and heartwarming story of Kashmir to the fore.

“Hats off to Ashvin for making this film as that time Kashmir was in a very bad space. The Valley was almost shut. It was difficult to shoot there and to release the film after all the censor board issues.”

The film is set to release on Friday.
