Deal gun with gun, but don’t take whole population hostage: Rana

0

Srinagar, Mar 07 : Deal gun with gun, but don’t take the whole people hostage. Do whatever to bring peace but not at the cost of harassing innocents, dividing society, said National Conference (NC) Provincial president Jammu, Devender Singh Rana.

“The bombs drop in Nowshehra and not in Delhi or elsewhere. The BJP leaders of J&K don’t know even the geography of the state and they have come to decide fate of J&K,” he said in an interview with news service.
To a question about the dialogue between two countries, Rana said he is a small ex-MLA and is not of a stature to decide about international politics. “Let them do whatever they want…but bring peace and let us live in harmony,” he said.

About attempts of polarisation made in Jammu, Rana said people are very sharp and intelligent. “They know everything and all. They will vote them (BJP) out of the state,” he said.

He cautioned the forces trying to fiddle with Article 370 and 35A… “People of Jammu will cry literally after two years, if the article is revoked. They will realise its importance then only. We will never allow anyone to fiddle with our special status. It is our blood,” he said.

“We are also Hindus… but we love Sikhs and Muslims. Which religion teaches to kill people of other religions? I am a hardcore Hindu but I do read Quran, Bible and Guru Grand Sahab. Let the BJP most educated person face me on Gita shalok by shalok. Every religion teaches to respect every other religion,” Rana said.

Adding further, he said, “I am a Bhakt of Mata Vaishnodevi, but I do go to Ajmeer Sharief and Golden temple. Religion is not subservient to politics. No religion teaches hatred. All the extremists be it Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs or Christians, they all are a danger for harmony. We should respect each other’s religious freedom.

Rana said that NC will form the next government with its own majority. “Let the elections are announced. In Jammu it is a fight between NC and BJP and Congress exists nowhere in the region,” he claimed. (KNS)

KD NEWS SERVICE

SRINAGAR, Mar 7: With Election Commission of India (ECI) giving hints about holding joint Lok Sabha and Assembly polls together before wrapping up its two-day J&K visit, Jammu and Kashmir police, the primary security agency responsible for creating conducive atmosphere for polls, has started a ground work in the form of mass consultations. Once the deliberations are done, “draft for the final security plan will be forwarded to Ministry of Home Affairs for approval, top security officials told KNS, a local news gathering agency.

The official said that police and other heads of various security agencies briefed the ECI about the prevailing situation, the challenges and the shortcomings during the meetings held in Srinagar and Jammu respectively.

ECI that arrived on a two-day visit March 4 to gauge the mood about holding polls that are due in the strife-torn state, in a jam-packed presser in Jammu stated that the unanimous consensus in J&K was that the parliamentary and Assembly polls be held together.

National Conference, Congress, PDP, BJP, and also the independent leaders pitched for simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls. The ECI, however, admitted that in Jammu and Kashmir State, there were law and order and security related challenges in certain constituencies and they “were fully mindful about that.”

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) law and order, security, Munir Ahmed Khan told KNS that police are working on a security plan for creating a smooth and secure environment for polls. “ECI is the final authority to take a call on holding polls. Our job is to create a peaceful atmosphere and a sense of security among the people of State so that they would without any fear or intimidation,” Khan said.

At least 11000 additional forces have reached Srinagar as part from 100 additional companies that includes 3500 BSF men, CRPF men and also the ITBP and Sahastra Seema Bal. Police had claimed that the arrival of 100 additional companies were called in for the election purpose.

Pertinently, from the 100 companies, the BSF men have already been deployed in Srinagar for “static guard” duty that means the force will be guarding the important government buildings. This is after 14 years that Srinagar has seen BSF deployment again. Earlier, in 2016, BSF men were deployed in Srinagar but not for more than a week, an official source revealed.

Arrest Mehbooba Mufti if she supports Jama’at-e-Islami: Former J&K dy CM Kavinder Gupta

0

Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Jammu and Kashmir deputy CM Kavinder Gupta has said that madrasas should be banned in Jammu and Kashmir and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti should be arrested if she supports Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

Gupta feels if other nations such as Bangladesh and Afghanistan have banned madrasas in a crackdown on “illegal activities and terrorism”, then it should also be banned in Kashmir.

Speaking to news gathering agency ANI, the BJP leader said, “Bangladesh, Afghanistan and other nations banned madrasas because of illegal activities. Similarly, if efforts to spread terrorism are made in Kashmir, they should be banned here too. If Mehbooba ji supports Jamaat-e-Islami, then she too should be arrested.”

The Centre on February 28 banned the Jamaat for five years under an anti-terror law on grounds that it was “in close touch” with militant outfits and is expected to “escalate secessionist movement” in the state.

A notification, banning the group under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs after a high-level meeting on security, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The ban follows a massive crackdown on the outfit in the Valley. Around 150 leaders and activists of the outfit have been detained in raids across Kashmir.

Several properties belonging to the outfit or its leaders have been seized by the government since the ban was imposed.

SAJAD BASHIR

SRINAGAR, Mar 7: Kashmir has a great potential in animal farming as climate and topography of Kashmir suits the rearing and farming of livestock and this sector is being one of the rapidly expanding having significant importance in development of rural economy.

Amid the problem of unemployment, one can easily earn his livelihood from farming like poultry farming, sheep farming, sericulture, fisheries and generate the employment opportunities not for only himself or herself but for others too.

In Kashmir, more than 50% of meat consumed is imported from the outside States and as per data available in 2018 the state of Jammu and Kashmir spent about rupees 2000 crore to import meat and poultry. Thus the large part of economy of Jammu and Kashmir is taken away by the other states in view of very high demand for animal products like eggs milk and meat in Kashmir.

Various state based and the central sponsored  schemes like Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme (DEDS), Poultry Venture Capital Fund (PVCF) and Rural Backyard Development Scheme  (RBDS) for  BPL families  implemented through  NABARD with the objective to promote setting up of modern dairy farms for production of the animal products and generation of the self employment.

Under these schemes a financial assistance is provided upto 30 lakh for establishment of a small dairy farm to full-fledged  cold storage facility for milk and milk production with  back ended capital subsidy of up to 25% for general category and 33% for the SC/ST and the repayment period is upto seven years.

Kashmir valley being a high altitude area is very most favorable for livestock farming as there are huge areas of grasslands which can be utilized and used for rearing of sheep.

Important to mention, the animal Husbandry department has assisted in the establishment of sheep and goat farms in private sector under the central and the state sponsored schemes. During last four years 1343 sheep and goat farms, units were established under various schemes resulting in the provision of the employment to large number of youth.

KCCI condemns assault on Kashmiris in Lucknow

KD NEWS SERVICE

SRINAGAR, Mar 7: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Thursday condemned the assault on two Kashmiri dry fruit vendors in Lucknow.

A spokesperson of the KCC&I said that more condemnable than the attack carried out against Kashmiri dry fruit sellers was the ‘State patronage extended to goons and hooligans in Uttar Pradesh and other States’.

“The registration  of the  case under weak and feeble provisions of  rioting  and breach  of peace, for which only one person has been booked, seems to have been intentionally done to facilitate the early release of the culprit. The videos of the incident clearly show it to be a case of attempt to murder and how the Uttar Pradesh police   interpreted it to be a case of one man riot is indicative of external influence,” the KCCI spokesman said.

He added: “The State of Uttar Pradesh has, by it’s brazen patronage, shown scant regard for the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India issued to, among others, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, for taking prompt and necessary action to prevent incidents of threat and assault on Kashmiris.”

Meanwhile, Nasir Hamid Khan, Senior Vice President, KCC&I urged the Governor Satya Pal Malik to use his good offices for ensuring that cases are registered for attempt to murder and other stringent provisions of criminal law against the goons and the organizations they belong to. “There was enough evidence for invocation of these provisions and it would also act as a deterrent to others thinking of targeting innocent people in the future.”

He said that the KCC&I was hopeful that the Supreme Court would take note of the complicity of various State’s who were registering cases under weak provisions of law. “This conduct has resulted in goons and hooligans being embolden to post videos of their murderous assaults on social media.”

He observed: “In the interest of providing justice to the growing number of   victims of assault and intimidation, the KCC&I would also be consulting the J&K High Court Bar Association, Srinagar regarding demand for setting up of a Special Trial Court, registration of criminal proceedings in Srinagar or other legal remedies available as a free and fair trial outside Kashmir seemed impossible in the prevalent hostile condition.”
