“6 PMs For 6 Days, Holiday On Sundays”: Amit Shah On Opposition Alliance

0

PANAJI/PUNE:

Taking a swipe at the opposition parties’ proposed “grand alliance”, BJP president Amit Shah said if it wins the Lok Sabha polls, every leader of the coalition would take turn to be prime minister for a day on six days of a week and the “country would be on holiday on Sunday”.

Addressing BJP workers near Panaji as part of the party’s ”Atal Booth Karyakarta Sammelan” he asked them to ensure that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is re-elected in the Lok Sabha polls and the party’s government would “flush out infiltrators from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to Kolkata”.

Mr Shah said that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) was aimed at identifying the “infiltrators” and said that he wanted to ask Congress president Rahul Gandhi whether the NRC exercise should be held in Goa as well.

The BJP national president said booth-level workers will help the party win the Lok Sabha polls expected to be held in April.

Taunting the opposition parties for trying to cobble up an alliance to oust the BJP from power, Mr Shah said, “The ”mahagathbandhan” will have Mayawati as PM on Monday, Akhilesh (Yadav) on Tuesday, H D Deve Gowda on Wednesday, (Chandrababu) Naidu on Thursday, (M K) Stalin on Friday and Sharad Pawar on Saturday. The country will be on holiday on Sunday.”

Earlier, speaking at a party workers” meet in Pune, Amit Shah challenged Mr Pawar to share and compare figures of farm produce procured during the UPA rule and Modi government.

Hitting out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for denying permission to BJP leaders to hold rallies in the eastern state, the BJP chief claimed that in a sting operation an “intelligence officer” had said meeting were disallowed not because of law and order apprehension but because Ms Banerjee was “scared” of the BJP.

He reiterated that the BJP is committed to building the Ram temple in Ayodhya and down played the apprehensions regarding the impact of the SP-BSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh saying his party would win 74 seats (out of 80) in the country’s most populous state.

Los Angeles, Feb 9 (PTI) Actor Katherine Heigl says she is ready for a sequel to her 2008 film “27 Dresses” and has already discussed the story idea with director Anne Fletcher.

Heigl played the role of Jane Nichols in the much-loved film. The climax of the film saw Jane understanding the importance of putting herself first and walking down the aisle with Kevin Doyle (James Marsden).

The film also featured Malin Akerman (Tess Nichols), and Edward Burns (George).

“I think it would be awesome to see, seriously, what are their lives like 10 years later? Do they end up together? I personally think they did,” Heigl told Entertainment Weekly.

“?I think (Tess and George) have, like, three kids and she?’s made Jane the godmother every time, so Jane has to plan the christenings and the baby showers and the gender-reveal parties, but then all the other bridesmaids (also) make her the godmother. But (Jane and Kevin) can?’t get pregnant,” she added.

Heigl said Fletcher has expressed interest in the idea.

I don’t copy anyone, but won’t mind copying Kohli: Pope

0

Wayanad (Kerala), Feb 9 (PTI) Ollie Pope is normally averse to copying any other cricketer’s style, but the young England batsman Saturday admitted that India captain Virat Kohli is someone who he doesn’t mind imitating.

The 20-year-old Surrey batsman was in awe of Kohli’s batting technique and said watching him, especially in the Nottingham Test where India beat England by a whopping 203 runs, was a treat to his eyes.

“I usually don’t try and copy other players, but one player I wouldn’t mind is Kohli, to be honest,” said Pope, who is currently on a tour to India with the England Lions.

“I think the way he (Kohli) played there (in Nottingham), it was awesome to play against him and see him first-hand. The way he stood outside his crease when he batted and tried to negotiate the swing. He was who I enjoyed watching and I learnt a lot from him,” he added.

Kohli played superb knocks of 97 and 103 to help India register its lone Test win over England in the five-match series last year.

Pope made his Test debut against India at the age of 20 and batted at the crucial No. 4 spot, and by his own admission the experience was “surreal”.

“I sort of experienced the ups and the downs within two weeks of cricket, which has actually put me in good stead for the future. It doesn’t really get bigger than that,” Pope said.

“The Test series was a good way of me to understand what sort of a player I was. Mentally I felt I coped with all of that pretty well.
