Kashmir turned into mourning place: JKDFP

0

Srinagar, Jan 01 : Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has said that Indian forces killed at least 427 people in Kashmir in 2018, turning the whole dispute region into a morning place. The government forces also injured a huge number of civilians by using blind force against unarmed people and razed hundreds of residential houses to ground in the garb of gunfights and so called search operations.
In a statement issued to KNS, JKDFP Spokesperson said that government forces have been authorized to arrest anyone they like and these forces have filled all the jails in and outside Jammu Kashmir. Frontline and ailing resistance leader Shabir Shah has been placed into jail for advocating Right to Self Determination and hundreds of other political prisoners are also suffering behind bars only for their political ideology.
The JKDFP Spokesperson said that Kashmiri people as a nation are being persecuted by New Delhi and its local agents only because they demand for their rights already accepted and acknowledged by the international community.
However, it is ironical that the whole world has turned deaf ears towards Kashmiri people’s just demands and their agony they face at the hands of India which only speaks military language.
At a time when the whole world is busy celebrating the New Year, Kashmiri people are being maltreated by the men in uniform enjoying impunity laws like AFSPA. This has turned the Paradise on Earth into hell and people living here ask the world powers are not they members of the world community?
Meanwhile, the Freedom Party Spokesperson strongly condemned the desecration of historical Jamia Masjid Srinagar and its pulpit by some masked men. He said that these elements are working on the behest of enemy and are hell bent to damage the martyr’s mission. (KNS)

Geelani congrats Class 10 pass outs for qualifying examination with distinction

0

Srinagar, Jan 01 : Congratulating the students on passing their exams with flying colours, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani said that I extend my earnest praise to our resilient youth and their families for successfully qualifying the Matriculation examinations. “The entire society and I are proud of this achievement despite everyday violence perpetrated against our people especially youth. The success of our youth becomes extraordinary in these extraordinary times we live in amidst massive killings, maiming and blinding, crackdown and torture. Through your hard work, dedication and diligence, you have proved that Kashmir’s future is progressing towards an undeniable destiny of freedom,” he said.
Pro-freedom leaders said that your success has further reinforced the narrative of resistance that education and freedom struggle are intertwined. “It has demolished the discourse and vilifying campaign of the Indian state, their apologists and collaborators that the resistance of the people of Kashmir is driven by “misguided youth”, he said.
Syed Ali Geelani further said that I take this opportunity to reflect, and to remind our youth on certain critical challenges that Kashmir and our people are facing for the last seven decades, and more so in last several years.
“The on-going oppression of the Indian state is more than just physical, psychological or spiritual and India continues its onslaught on our society at all levels of our appeal to reason and emotions. It is thus not surprising that education itself has become a site of both oppression and resistance in our struggle for freedom. Our students, educational institutions and centers of critical learning are facing an aggressive assault, which not only seeks to tame us as a community but also aims to produce docile and subservient citizens for the Indian state,” Hurriyat (G) chairman said.
He said occupation and injustice thrives on ignorance. Resistance and fight for justice, on the other hand, flourishes purely through education and critical learning of the political and social awareness and for that Islam remains at the core of our struggle and philosophy.
Pro-freedom leader said that education ensures that an individual becomes self-aware, which is crucial for him to break the shackles of slavery and subservience.
“This is true of our pious and rightful struggle as well. Our educated and conscious young people are taking up the cause of resistance. This is not a new phenomenon though, as being propagated by the Indian vassals. Kashmir’s struggle for its freedom has thrived only through the sacrifices of brilliant men and women who have for decades espoused, fought and martyred for this just cause. Resistance will only endure if the struggle against suppression brings empathy, compassion and emotional labour among those who are striving or facing oppression; regardless of one’s religion, gender, class or geography. This realization of mutual empathy and appreciation of the struggles is, however, not possible without critical learning and reasoning, which can only be attained through education,” he said.
Hurriyat (G) chairman said that our resistance movement is also inseparable from the discussions about understanding the community’s ideals, building on those principles and their realization in action. As such, our youth must always remember that education is integral to our resistance.

Depute high level team to Shimla to assess losses: KCC&I urges Guv Admin

0

Srinagar, Jan 01 : Reacting over the attack on Kashmiri shopkeepers in Shimla, the Kashmir Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) on Tuesday appealed Governor led administration in Jammu and Kashmir to depute a high-level special team to Shimla including representatives from the KCC&I for assessing the losses and to ensure that the lives and property of Kashmiri Traders are safe and secure.
As per Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, addressing a news conference here at their office, Sheikh Ashiq president of KCC&I condemned the attack on shopkeepers, saying that Kashmiris should not be made scapegoats.
Terming the attack on Kashmir traders and students outside Kashmir as unfortunate’, Ashiq appealed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure safety and protection of businessmen and students from Jammu and Kashmir outside the State.
The Governor’s administration should also depute a high level special team to Shimla including representatives from the KCC&I for assessing the losses and to ensure that the lives and property of Kashmiri Traders are safe and secure, he said.
“The miscreants, armed with hammers, sticks and iron rods have reportedly broken the shutters of the shops and looted and ransacked the goods. We have been watching with growing concern, the selective targeting of Kashmiri businessmen, especially Handicraft dealers/Pheriwalla’s on social media through videos of hate speeches and physical violence, some exhorting people not to buy Kashmiri goods,” he said.
“To our knowledge, no investigation or action has been taken in any of the incidents. A hostile environment is being created and attempts made to stoke sectarian violence in various places across the country,” Ashiq said, adding that the Shimla incident was the result of the hate propaganda.
“We also appeal to the saner elements of the society, including members of the business community, intellectuals, intelligentsia, civil society and others not to remain silent. It’s the responsibility of all secular minded members of the society to take steps to protect the rights of Kashmiri people to freely conduct their businesses anywhere without fear or intimidation,” Ashiq said.
He also demanded that the guilty should be booked under stringent provisions of criminal law, saying that “we find it strange that despite videos of the vandalism readily available on the social media, the Himachal Police has failed to make any arrests so far.”
“This clearly points to goons being patronized by the State, which is deplorable. Such incidents cannot be allowed to be business as usual and remedial steps need to be taken for avoiding their repetition anywhere else,” he said.
He said while the KCC&I appreciates the decision of the Himachal Police to engage the services of forensic scientists to “scientifically probe” the episode of killing of a bovine animal; we believe that it would also serve the ends of justice to take action against the miscreants who have openly indulged in taking the law in their own hands.
“KCC&I also demanded that the Jammu and Kashmir Police register FIR’s and take legal action against people indulging in hate speeches and physical violence and freely spewing venom on the social media against members of the Kashmiri business community operating throughout the country,” he said, adding that they will also meet the higher authorities in this regard.
