CRPF battalion brought in 2016 continues to camp, miserably, at Sopore stadium

Sopore: Hundreds of paramilitary troops of CRPF Battalion 177 that were brought to J&K to control the 2016 public uprising continue to camp at Sopore’s only sports stadium.

The Kaushal Sports Stadium in TulBal area of Sopore is located near the district police lines and the railway station of Sopore in Baramulla district. It was given to the CRPF battalion by the state government on temporary basis more than two years ago. Residents as well as civil society members of Sopore have tried their best to have the stadium vacated, but the troops continue to occupy – though not willingly – the pavilion meant for sportspersons.

Kashmir Reader has learnt through reliable sources that the CRPF troops are living under harsh conditions and are themselves eager to vacate the newly-constructed pavilion.

The construction of the pavilion was not even complete when the CRPF troops were brought there. The winter chill and shortage of water is making life difficult for the troops. Instead of calling them back, the central government has forgotten them, the sources said.

Rayees Ahmad, general secretary of a civil society organisation of Sopore, said that when he took this issue to a senior police officer, the officer said he can do nothing. The officer said that the central government sent the troops and only the central government can call them back.

Sportspersons expressed concern and disappointment at the presence of the troops. Sajad Ahmad, a football player of Sopore, said that the presence of the troops in the stadium has affected sports activities for the past two years.

Recently, for the first time ever, people in Sopore witnessed a football tournament under floodlights. That tournament was held in September at an unattended government land, the Charai ground in Bagh-Islam Kranshivan Colony, in main town Sopore. If it would have been held in Kaushal sports stadium, it could have attracted more spectators and sponsors.

“It seems that they have occupied the pavilion premises permanently, as they have erected concertina wires around the pavilion and also erected a bunker outside the pavilion for constant surveillance of the local populace,” Sajad Ahmad said.

Additional District Commissioner Sopore, Ashiq Hussain, expressed ignorance about this matter and said he was not the right person to comment on it.

“If they were brought to maintain law and order situation two years back, I don’t know what is keeping them to stay there still. I will talk to the authorities concerned and see what can be done,” Hussain told.

All Those Defaming Zakir Musa are Indian Agents, Says Riyaz Naikoo in Fresh Audio

0

The Divisional commander of Militant outfit Hizb ul Mujahideen has issued a fresh audio and this 6:54 Minute audio is being widely circulated on Social media.

“We are not against Zakir Musa, He has not got any of our men killed, as none of the Militants are aware of the location of other Militants, the video being circulated against Zakir Musa and claiming that he is responsible for getting the Hizb ul Mujahideen men killed has no association with us, whosoever is spreading the messages against Musa is an Indian agent,” Naikoo is heard saying in this fresh audio.

He is heard saying that someone had issued an audio few months back saying that, “We are from the Musa group and we will ensure every other group is eliminated,” Naikoo ridiculed the audios and videos and said it is a plan of Indian agencies to divide Militants.

In this audio, Naikoo is heard saying that Militants cannot be divided by these tactics. “We may have issues with some Militants, but that does not mean we are at loggerheads with each other,” he said. Striking a similar chord as Zakir Musa, Naikoo is heard saying, “Our initial priority is getting free from India and we are all fighting for Islam.”

A lot of wrong messages are being spread on the social media and all those opposing Militancy and spreading lies against Militancy are the enemies of the Kashmir struggle, he said.(Agencies)

PC will contest from all 87 seats, provide an alternative of hope in J&K: Sajad Lone

0

Jammu, Dec 23 (KNS): Peoples’ Conference President Sajad Gani Lone on Sunday said that Jammu Kashmir Peoples’ Conference would contest from all 87 seats in the upcoming elections in the State and would provide a strong alternative of hope, inclusivity and amity in the State. Welcoming the new entrants including Ex-MLA Zanskar Muhammad Baqir Rizvi, Former PDP Spokesperson and Prominent Leader Bani Constituency Abhijeet Jasrotia, Nitin Jamwal, Parshotam Kumar, Ashish Pandita, Advocate Abrar Ahmed Khan and Advocate Irfan Inqlabi to the party at a function in Jammu. The PC President said that the party believes that J&K is a diverse mix of heterogeneous expectation and that the party would strive to deliver on these expectations with utmost sincerity and conviction.
Senior Peoples’ Conference Leader Movli Imran Reza Ansari, who was present on the occasion, welcomed the new entrants into JKPC and said the party is rapidly emerging as an alternative of constructive politics in the State and would fight the traditional system of tyranny, corruption and monopoly in all the three regions of the State. “The twin regional parties who – keeping all their cosmetic differences at bay – have come together in an alliance of opportunism and greed in the State to prolong their familial monopoly. This monopoly has been a source of great suffering and misery for people in all the three regions of the State and we will fight against the NC-PDP alliance by delivering much needed change based on the empowerment of the traditionally disempowered sections”, Molvi Imran Reza Ansari said while speaking on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, PC President Sajad Gani Lone said that Peoples’ Conference would ensure that all the three regions of the State unite under a common goal to usher the State into an era of good governance, peace and amity. “We are committed to delivering on the heterogeneous expectations of people from the three regions of the State. Our focus is to empower dedicated, grassroots voices and leaders in all the three regions and create a cohesive, coherent political alternative to the traditional twin-party politics of theatrics, lies and hypocrisy. You will see the party strengthening its presence in every constituency of the State”, the PC Chairman added.
“The twin regional dynasts came together with a single purpose to fight against the emerging alternative – which they naturally consider a threat to their monopolistic system of exploitation, corruption and loot. We are committed to safeguarding Article 35-A and Article 370 from any further erosion and will support all sincere efforts to restore the State’s special status to its pristine form. However, it is imperative that the two parties are exposed for their active role in the erosion of Article 370 till now. They were co-conspirators in every single script and machination launched against the State’s special status. We will come up with a factual, detailed white paper clearly exposing their devious role”, the PC Chairman said.
The new entrants pledged to strengthen the party at the grassroots level in all the three regions of the State and said the mission of ushering the State into a corrective era of Change was a sacred cause that would define the future of our coming generations. (KNS)

Sulking PDP’s Patron also likely to desert party along with a new rebel group

0

Srinagar, Dec 22 : The drama in PDP is still not over as many other leaders are planning to desert it and may float a new party. Top of it could be the newly appointed Patron and former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffer Hussain Beigh.

Sources told News Agency that even after being nominated as Patron, the former Deputy Chief Minster is still looking for other options and may walk away with a new rebel group spearheaded by a former minster.

Sources have revealed to News Agency that a close associate of Beigh has spoken to the disgruntled leader and has pledged support for the formation of a new political party.

Earlier reports were rife that a senior leader has been mulling to float a new party owing to serious difference with some close associates of Mehbooba Mufti.

Though Party is publicly not willing to admit, but many leaders have privately confirmed that everything is not fine in the camp and a senior leader was seriously mulling to float his own political outfit.

Another senior PDP leader said that the process of floating a new party by a senior colleague has been set in motion but declined to elaborate it further.

He however, added that if the leader went ahead with his plans of deserting PDP, he would not join any other party like others but would float his own party supported by nearly a dozen PDP leaders including its newly appointed Patron.

Earlier Beig who was sulking for last more than 4 yrs had hinted that he could join Sajad lone’s Peoples conference which was widely called as “Ghar Wapsi”, but later changed his mind before being nominated as PDP Patron. Muzaffer Beigh however, again surprised many by stating that Mehbooba Mufti was forced by her associates to boycott the recently held ULB and Panchayat Polls.
