Bandipora, Nov 06: A Pakistani militant has been killed in a night-long anti-militancy operation in the forests of Bandipora district in north Kashmir, official sources said.
Official sources told Kashmir Despatch that one militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter in Bandipora, where one M4 rifle and two grenades have also been recovered from the scene.
The official sources further added that the operation in the area is still underway.
Late Tuesday, an exchange of fire occurred between security forces and militants in the Ketsun forest in Bandipora. However, during the initial stages of the encounter, two security personnel were injured.
Army Chinar corps earlier in a post on X, said that OP KAITSAN, #Bandipora,Based on specific intelligence input regarding presence of terrorists in general area Kaitsan forest, a Joint Operation was launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice & @crpf_srinagar in general area Chuntawadi Kaitsan, #Bandipora. Contact was established and firefight ensued.Operation is in progress.
Meanwhile, In another anti-militancy operation an unidentified militant was killed in an overnight gunfight that raged at Lolab in Kupwara district on Tuesday late evening.
