Pampore Gunfight : Militant killed, another surrenders

Pampore, Nov 06 : Hours after the killing of one unidentified militant in Pampore gunfight, another militant surrendered sources said.

Reliable sources told Kashmir Despatch that the militant responded to the surrender appeals and was apprehended by joint team of security forces in Meej area of Pampora.

Sources in police department told Kashmir Despatch that his family was taken to the spot, who along with Police and Army repeatedly asked him to surrender and after hectic efforts, he accepted the offer and surrendered before the forces.

Sources further added that the militant who surrendered is a local militant who recently had joined militant ranks.

Earlier, on Thursday evening a joint team of Army’s 50 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area following inputs about the presence of some militants.

In the initial stage of gunfight two civilians were injured in cross firing and today morning one among succumbed to his injures.
