ATTAN-BARAMULLA, Dec 26: In a bizzare incident of its kind, a resident of Pattan area of Baramulla district got E-challan for his vehicle for violating traffic rules in Rajasthan. Interestingly, the accused says that he has never visited Rajasthan.

Vehicle owner, Abdul Ahad Yatoo said that he got the E-challan of Rs 10, 000 for his vehicle beating registration number JK05F 1965 via an SMS of E-Challan for violating traffic rules in Rajasthan.

He said he was shocked when he suddenly received an SMS on his mobile phone that his vehicle has been challaned for not having driving license and carrying over height load while plying in Ganganagar area of Rajasthan.

He said that he has not gone outside of Jammu and Kashmir so it was surprising for him to recieve a Challan from Rajasthan state.

When contacted, Divisional Inspector General (DiG) Traffic Kashmir, Javid Ahmad Koul said that there is no need to panic as the vehicle owner must contest the challan with the traffic department of Rajasthan to resolve the issue.

He said sometimes criminals use fake number plates to carry stolen vehicles to other states. Meanwhile, the vehicle owner appealed to the traffic authorities of Kashmir to help him resolve the issue with their Rajasthan counterparts. (KNS)
