The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced its decision to appoint Gary Kirsten from South Africa and Jason Gillespie from Australia as coaches for the men’s national cricket team. Kirsten will serve as the white-ball coach, while Gillespie has been chosen as the red-ball coach for the team, as revealed by official sources.
The PCB plans to make a formal announcement regarding these appointments after completing the necessary procedures, having already advertised the positions on its website and accepting
applications until April 15. This decision comes in preparation for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand, scheduled to commence on April 18.
Looking ahead, the Pakistan cricket team’s next significant challenge is the T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States and the West Indies in June.
These coaching positions became available after Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick were reassigned to roles at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore following changes in the PCB’s structure in November 2023. The trio officially stepped down from their roles in January of this year.
Specifically, Arthur assumed the role of Director of the Pakistan men’s cricket team in April 2023, Bradburn was appointed as head coach of the Pakistan national men’s side the previous year, and former South Africa cricketer Puttick served as a batting coach starting from April 2023.
