Bandipora, June 30: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday staged a massive protest in Bandipora against the National Conference (NC)-led government over the alleged outsourcing of nearly 25,000 government jobs, accusing it of undermining transparency and jeopardising the future of unemployed youth.
Led by local party leaders and workers, the protesters marched through the town carrying placards and raising slogans against the Omar Abdullah-led government. They demanded an immediate halt to the outsourcing process and called for a transparent, merit-based recruitment system.
Addressing the gathering, PDP leaders alleged that the government’s recruitment policy was denying deserving candidates a fair opportunity to secure public employment. They claimed that large-scale outsourcing would weaken accountability in recruitment and further deepen unemployment among educated youth.
“The government is destroying the future of our youth by promoting outsourcing instead of filling vacancies through transparent recruitment,” a party leader said, adding that educated young people across Jammu and Kashmir were losing faith in the system.
The protesters also accused the NC government of abandoning its promises on employment and transparency, alleging that recruitment was being carried out without adequate public scrutiny. They urged the administration to withdraw the outsourcing proposal and fill all vacant government posts through established recruitment agencies on the basis of merit.
Throughout the demonstration, party workers raised slogans against the NC government, demanding justice for unemployed youth and greater transparency in government appointments.
The protest comes amid a growing political row over the reported outsourcing of around 25,000 jobs in Jammu and Kashmir. The PDP has been consistently criticising the move, alleging it encourages non-transparent recruitment, while the National Conference has rejected the allegations and accused the opposition of politicising the issue.
