Baramulla, Dec 14 : In a bid to address the rising concerns of fake sales and protect the rights of consumers, Peerzada Qousar, President of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC) in Baramulla, has urged consumers to always demand a cash memo for every purchase they make.
With reports of fraudulent sales emerging from various parts of north Kashmir, Qousar emphasized the joint responsibility of both shopkeepers and customers to ensure the authenticity of transactions.
By requesting a cash memo, consumers can actively participate in safeguarding their own interests.
Peerzada Qousar while talking to Kashmir Despatch stated that it is crucial for consumers to verify the accurate amount they are paying for a product or service.
“The cash memo plays a vital role in this process, as it serves as tangible proof of the transaction details,” he said.
By obtaining a cash memo from the respective unit or outlet, consumers gain access to essential information such as the cost, quantity, and description of the purchased item.
Qousar highlighted the existence of consumer rights protected by the Consumer Act.
However, it is crucial for consumers to diligently fulfill their responsibilities in order to fully enjoy these rights.
By actively insisting on a cash memo, consumers can contribute to a transparent and trustworthy consumer market, while simultaneously protecting themselves from potential fraud or disputes.
