Pig killed after being hit by a speedy vehicle in Kupwara’ outskirts

Date:

Kupwara: A dead wild boar (PIG) — a non-native animal to Kashmir — was discovered on the Kupwara-Srinagar highway on Tuesday evening, according to sources.

Sources told Kashmir Despatch that a pig was spotted near Younsoo on the outskirts of Kupwara on Tuesday evening when it came under a speedy vehicle and died at the scene.

Pertinently, wild boars, which are not native to Kashmir, were first spotted in the valley in the mid-1980s. Later, they disappeared mysteriously.
However, for the last few years, they have again appeared in the valley, causing concern among the local population.
