Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of PS Tangmarg under the supervision of SHO PS Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Zeeran Crossing Tangmarg intercepted 02 suspicious persons who on seeing police party tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. During search, 180grams of Charas was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Abdul Rashid Sheikh son of Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh resident of Khamimderpora and Mushtaq Ahmad Mir son of Habibullah Mir resident of Ratnipora. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Tangmarg and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
