Awantipora police facilitates Police Public interaction meetings

November 04: As a part of public outreach programme, Police public interaction meetings were facilitated by Awantipora Police in Tral, Pampore and Awantipora Police Stations. Social distancing norms and other protocols were strictly followed during these meetings.

These meetings were chaired by concerned SDPOs and SHOs. The meetings were attended by local Imams, religious leaders and Auqaf members of these areas.

During the meetings, the participants raised various issues including traffic jamming, exorbitant fare charged by transporters to the passengers and other issues related to police and other civil departments. The chairing officers assured the participants that their genuine grievances pertaining to police will be resolved on priority and the issues pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned departments for their early redressal.

The participants in these meetings assured their full cooperation to police in tackling social evils. They also appreciated the role of police for the actions against drug peddlers and poppy cultivators.

Participants hailed the efforts of police in facilitating community interaction meets where participants express their opinion freely.

Awantipora Police books a person for uploading obscene content on Social Media

November 04: Awantipora Police took cognizance on a complaint received by PS Pampore from the family of a lady stating that some miscreants have been blackmailing her and uploaded her obscene pictures on social media which poses intimidation to her modesty. 

Acting swiftly on the complaint, Police have identified and arrested involved accused identified as Asif Rasool Wani resident of Drangabal Pampore. He has been shifted to Police Station Pampore where he remains in custody. 

Case FIR Number 89/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Pampore and investigation has been initiated.

Persons found indulging in any criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the social crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.

Sports activities in memory of police martyrs continue in district Kulgam

November 04: Police in Kulgam organised a friendly cricket match between Specially-abled team of District Kulgam and winners of Police Martyrs Memorial Cricket Tournament-2020.  The match was played at sports stadium Kulgam witnessed a huge gathering of spectators. The event was organized under civic action programme in memory of Police martyrs for their supreme sacrifices in safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation. 

DC Kulgam Shri Showkat Aejaz Bhat-KAS was the chief guest on the occasion. SP Kulgam Shri Gurinder Pal Singh-IPS, Addl SP Kulgam, DYSP DAR Kulgam were also present to grace the occasion.

The match was organised to boost the morale of specially-abled persons and can emerge as a pivotal push in making these persons strong and confident so that they can compete in any challenge ahead side by side to other people.

Specially-abled team won the toss and batted first played with extraordinary enthusiasm and scored 150 runs with important contribution and unbeaten knock of 54 runs by Rashid Ahmad who was declared as Man of the Match later,  while chasing the target Qaimoh cricket club were bundled out on 123 Runs and lost the match by 28 Runs.

DC Kulgam and SP Kulgam interacted with participants and applauded the efforts put forth by Specially-abled team and encouraged them.

DC Kulgam and SP Kulgam listened the grievances of participants and people present with patience and assured them that their genuine problems will be solved on priority basis and every possible help will be provided by District Administration and Kulgam Police. DC Kulgam & SP Kulgam also assures the participants that more events will be organized in near future so that talent of youth will be explored and channelized towards positive direction.

Later DC Kulgam and SP Kulgam distributed sports Kit and facilitated the players with awards to boost their morale.

The spectators, participants, especially the specially-abled team on the occasion hailed the initiative and the support of Police and urged that more platforms will be provided to them in future too.

Kulgam police arrests bootlegger, recovers 30 bottles of illicit liquor

November 04: Police in Kulgam arrested a bootlegger and recovered 30 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established near Khudwani Bridge intercepted a vehicle Santro bearing registration No. CH03S-2596 with one person on board. He has been identified as Showkat Ahmad Hajam resident of  Behramshah Anantnag. During search, officers were able to recovered 30 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Qaimoh where he remains in custody.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 68/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Qaimoh and further investigation has been initiated.

Locals have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
