Poonch, Dec 5 (GNS): Police on Wednesday filed four separate FIRs and named several people including Tehsildar and Sub-Inspector of police in connection with group clash amid phase-VII of the panchayat polls, resulting in injuries to 16 people in Mendhar area of Poonch district.
Official sources told GNS that Shabana Kounsar wife of Sadam Hussain of Gohlad Mendhar filed a written complaint in police station Mendhar wherein she has mentioned that while going to cast her vote, she was stopped and beaten by a group of people including a police Sub Inspector Mehmood Ahmad Khan (presently posted at Jammu). Taking cognizance of the complaint, police filed an FIR under 209/2018 under section 147, 323 RPC in Police Station Mendhar and named 8 persons including the SI.
Another complainant, Amjid Bashir Khan approached the police station Bhata Kass with a written complaint against the group of people including Tehsildar Shahzad Latif Khan (presently posted at Haveli Poonch), Aftab Latif Khan (lecturer), Qamar Rashid Khan (Agriculture Extension Officer Mendhar), Tahir Rashid (Assistant Engineer Mechanical Mendhar), Mohd Rashid Khan, Umer Shahzad and 13 others.
In another complaint, one Amjid alleged that the group of people attacked him along with his brother Wajid with sharp-edged weapons during polling. In the attack, Amjid, Wajid and two other people suffered injuries and were hospitalized. Amjid’s Father Bashir Khan has won the Sarpanch election yesterday and the rival group later attacked them.
Police took cognizance and filed a case under FIR number 210/ 2018 u/s 307, 147, 148, 323 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act and named the group of 18 people.
One more complainant, Mohd Marouf whose brother Mohd Akbar Khan won the sarpanch election yesterday, also approached the police station Mendhar with a complaint that he was attacked by a group of people during poll day.
Police took the cognizance and filed an FIR number 212 u/s 341, 323,382 RPC PS Mendhar. The defeated candidate Mohd Zaman was among the 8 people named in connection with the case.
Similarly, Mohd Tufail of Saki Maidan also alleged in a complaint that he was attacked by a group of people. In this connection, police registered a case under FIR number 213/2018 and named 8 persons.
A police officer while confirming the FIRs have been registered said that police teams have been dispatched to the area to nab the accused. (GNS)
