Police recruitment drive for women evokes good response

Date:

Jammu: Recruitment starts for the creation of two exclusive women battalions in Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) as the J&K Police starts the process. Braving cold weather and rain, hundreds of girls from across the Jammu region participated in the recruitment drive in hope of serving the nation.

On Day 2, 1,500 girls from Doda district queued up at Gulshan Ground, Jammu, to participate in the selection process. Senior officers of the police are closely monitoring the selection of candidates. The police had begun the process for recruitment on Monday to create two exclusive women constable battalions in the UT.

“We came from Doda despite inclement weather and snowfall. It was a difficult journey to reach here on time due to the blocked highway. But we want to serve the country and the UT”, said Palak a girl from Doda.

“My elder son is serving in the Army and now I am sending my girl to join the police force, I never discriminate between boy and girl. I always encourage my children to serve the nation.” A parent from Dessa said.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Danish Rana, lauded the spirit and enthusiasm of the girls who came forward to join the police. He said, “Despite rain and chilly weather, the girls are waiting patiently to get a chance to showcase their physical strength on the ground as they are very keen to join the force.”

“We are conducting the recruitment drive transparently as human intervention is minimum due to the usage of high-tech gametes and merit is the only criteria for selection”, said Rana.
