Srinagar, Jan 16 : Jammu and Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain Tuesday said that the police will categorise the narco-dealers like terrorists have been categorised in A, B and C category to launch a decisive battle against narco-terrorists.
“Narcotics is a poison. It doesn’t grow here but comes from across. Funds generated from narcotics are being used to finance terrorism in J&K. We will be doing a massive mapping and categorising the narco-dealers like we have classified terrorists in A, B and C category. We will soon be able to frame a list of narcotics dealers A, B and C,” DGP Swain told reporters on the side-lines of the Closing Ceremony of Police Martyrs Cricket tournament final match at Kathua district of Jammu, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
He said that more de-addiction centers will come up in J&K. “We will track big fish through the victims of narcotics who are willing to come out of the menace. We will be fighting a decisive battle at a military level and root-out narco-trade from J&K soil,” the DGP said. He said that police have lost 1650 brave men so far in line of duty and as per the resources available at the own level and at the disposal of J&K administration, families of police martyrs are being taken care of.
“As already stated by the LG sahib that Sainik Colonies will come up in Kashmir and Jammu, these colonies will accommodate families of police martyrs as well. Children of the police martyrs will get hostel facilities in these colonies that are set to come up in the next two years,” the DGP said.
To a query about the security situation in Rajouri-Poonch, he said that security forces are working out to wipe out terrorism and dismantle its eco-system wherever it exists. Pertinently, Rajourri-Poonch has been an area of concern for the security agencies, especially the army that lost 20 soldiers in 2023 in a spate of attacks. LG Manoj Sinha has stated that a counter-terror plan has been rolled out to deal with the situation in Rajouri-Poonch—(KNO)
