Police version on arrest of militants in chanapora attack incident

Srinagar, 28th April 2019 : Police in a statement today said that Srinagar Police arrested two militants who carried out attack on Chanapora Police Post in Srinagar, leading to the serious injuries to a policeman.

SSP Srinagar Dr M Haseeb Mughal-JKPS flanked by SP South city Dr Sandeep Chakarborty-IPS and SDPO Sadder Shabir Khan-JKPS in a Press conference at Police Station Sadder said that the arrest were made after hectic efforts by the police.

He said that the militants identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Rather and Junaid Ahmad Dar, both resident of Wathoora were arrested from Wathoora area of Chadoora in Budgam during noctornal raids. Local help was also provided by District Police Budgam and 53RR.

One OGW Lateef Ahmed of Wathoora helped the militants in their transportation on his bike.He also said that Sameer Ahmed a JeI commander in Pulwama tasked the militants to carry out the attack and snatch the weapons.

The officer also claimed to have recovered some arms and ammunition including one pistol from their possession.

The attack on police post Chanapora was carried on Friday evening resulting in injuries to one policeman constable Feroz Ahmad who is now undergoing treatment at SKIMS Soura.

Subsequently FIR No 79/2019 US 307 RPC, 7/25 Arms Act , 16,18,20,38,39 ULPA was lodged at Police station Sadder and further investigation is in progress.
