Bandipora, June 16: The residents of several villages of Bandipora of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district thursday accused the private telecom operator ‘’Jio” of poor voice calls and mobile internet service as a result of which people are facing hardships.

Residents of Gamroo, Gundpora, Papchan, Check Arsala khan, Mulkihama, areas said that they were facing problems due to erratic calling and internet services for the past several days.

The residents said that though many mobile towers were installed in the area, they do not cater to their area and people were really facing hardships due to weak signals.

They said that there was a dire need of installing a tower in their localities so that people may get easy access to others.

“We several times approached the Jio authorities for upgrading the signal so that people may get relief, but despite the passage of several months nothing concrete has been done,” a local said.

The residents said that they cannot make calls due to lack of mobile connectivity in their areas and during emergencies they have to walk several kilometres out of their villages to get mobile connectivity for making a single call or browsing internet applications.

In this modern era, where the country is ready to launch 5G, we people are searching for the signal like a flying bird.

The students said that they were suffering due to lack of internet which was telling upon their preparation for different competitive exams.

A local Nisar Ahmad Dar from Gamroo village of Bandipora complained of slow data connectivity. He said that hundreds of Jio subscribers have been facing tremendous hardships from the past few months due to poor internet connectivity services. He said that i have my outlet in my village and for mobile recharge to other customers i have to travel one km for simple transaction.

“We have approached the concerned officials in this regard but to no avail,” the residents said. They said that even after approaching the higher ups of Jio, the problem still persists. “Nobody from Jio is ready to listen to us thereby leaving us to suffer,” they said and sought intervention of higher authorities.

People have demanded installation of more mobile towers in their areas to get mobile connectivity.

They have sought immediate intervention of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora and other concerned officials so that their grievance is redressed at the earliest.
