PSA of Sartaj Madani, Peer Mansoor, Shah Faesal revoked: Disappointed Mehbooba Mufti, Sagar, Hilal Lone continue to be detained, says Omar Abdullah

Date:

Srinagar, June 03: After months of detention, Jammu and Kashmir government Wednesday revoked the Public Safety Act (PSA) of two PDP leaders—Sartaj Madani and Peer Mansoor and IAS topper turned politician Shah Faesal.

An official told that these three leaders will be released very soon.

Reacting to the development, former chief minister Omar Abdullah Tweeted, “Good to hear @shahfaesal, Peer Mansoor & Sartaj Madani have been released from their unjust PSA detention. Disappointed that @MehboobaMufti, Sagar Sb & Hilal Lone continue to be detained. It’s high time they are set free as well.”

He said, “Not to mention the many others under informal house arrest for the last 10 months. It’s time the rule of law is applied to all equally & these leaders are allowed to leave their homes without their guards locking them inside without cause, justification or any detention order.”

Omar Abdullah was freed on 24 March 2020 after eight months in detention after the administration revoked the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) against him.

He was booked under the stringent act on February 5, hours before his six-month custody under preventive detention was to end.

On March 13, Omar Abdullah’s father Farooq Abdullah, also a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, was freed.
