Srinagar, October 31: In a ceremonial handover held at PHQ Srinagar, Shri R.R. Swain has assumed the responsibilities of the 17th Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir.
The event, which took place this afternoon, witnessed the presence of several distinguished officers, including Spl DG Crime J&K, Shri A.K Choudhary, ADGsP, Shri S. J. M. Gillani, Shri M.K Sinha, Shri Vijay Kumar, Director of Fire & Emergency Services in J&K, Shri Alok Kumar, Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce Shri Vikramjeet Singh, IGP Shri V. K Birdi, IGP (CIV/Hqrs) Shri B.S Tuti, and other high-ranking officials from the J&K Police.
Upon his arrival, Shri R.R. Swain was warmly received by senior officers and was honored with a guard of honor in the lawns of PHQ. He also conducted an inspection of the guard of honor.
Shri R.R. Swain, a 1991 batch IPS officer, brings with him a wealth of experience from a series of significant roles within the Jammu and Kashmir Police. His prior assignments included SDPO Kothi Bagh, SP Ramban, SP Kargil, SP Poonch, SSP Kathua, SSP Jammu, SSP Srinagar, AIG (P/W) PHQ, and DIG Vigilance.
In November 2006, he was deputed to the Government of India, where he held prestigious positions. Shri Swain rejoined the J&K Police in June 2020, taking the helm of the CID wing and has now officially taken on the role of DGP for J&K.
Upon assuming the position of DGP, J&K, Shri R.R. Swain convened a meeting at PHQ, attended by senior officers from various wings. Heads of different departments and senior officers at PHQ provided briefings to the DGP regarding the functioning and operations of their respective units.
