Rainfall in valley provides citizens relief from heat wave

Electric supply disrupted in various areas



Srinagar, 1st October, : Valley after a long period of dryness and heat wave received heavy spell of rainfall during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.

According to news agency, rainfall for few hours together with strike of PDD employees resulted in disruption of electric supply in various areas of the valley. Various areas of the valley continued to remain plunged into darkness throughout the day.

Heavy clouds covered the skies by Monday evening and by midnight intense lightening and thunders followed by heavy rainfall struck the valley, providing some relief to people from a lengthy spell of heat wave.

With weather taking a turn, the upper reaches and various areas of valley, including Bramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Kangan, Pulwama, Pampore,  Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag, , Mattan, Bijbehara, Qazi Gund, Tral and Awantipora received a heavy to medium  rainfall till morning hours.

A considerable drop in the temperature was registered due to the rainfall, forcing people to wear warm clothes.

With Uttar Pradesh and Bihar state already inundated due to heavy rains, in which more than 100 people have died so far and thousands of houses raised to ground, Jammu region also witnessed a heavy rainfall during Monday night, continuing till Tuesday noon, people had a sigh of relief from the scorching heat and humidity.
