Press Release

Mr Waheed Ahmed Bandey, Chairman Jamia Zia-ul-uloom Poonch was today elected as District President uncontested whereas Mr Maqbool Hussain Mukhlis of Diana English Institute was elected as General Secretary PSAJK Poonch unopposed.

The election process was started earlier this month and candidates were given seven days time to file their nominations. However, no one opposed the two school heads in the process.

The results were declared today in a prestigious function held at the PSAJK head office. Chairman Pirpanchal range, Mr Khurshid Bismil declared the results. Pertinent to mention that PSAJK has already started the process of election in various districts and till date Kupwara, Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam, Poonch, Rajouri and Ganderbal have already completed the election process.

President PSAJK, Mr G. N. Var, while congratulating the newly elected President and General Secretary of Poonch district, said that Private schools association has a dedicated team in all districts working for the welfare of private schools and striving to provide quality education to the children despite of all odds. Mr Var said that private schools are currently suffering badly and many schools are at the verge of closure due to financial crises.

Mr Var demanded that Government should allow schools to function normally as has been allowed in many parts of the country and health experts have time and again recommended reopening of schools. Mr Var asked that when states like Maharashtra and Kerala, where Covid cases were in large number, can re-open schools, why J&K Government is not issuing such orders. He said that continuous closure of schools has badly affected the mental health of children and if students are kept away from their schools for more time, it can prove dangerous for kids. He retreated that it is time that schools should be thrown open again and children be allowed to learn in open environments of educational institutions.
