After a long gap of two years, the government seems to be finally resolute in its decision to re-open the schools as the Covid-19 spread has considerably come down & the third wave is at the verge of its end.
Though no laxity is worth to be risked & strict Covid-19 SOP’s have to be still followed in all schools. However, the students will now once again experience that classroom atmosphere which remains pivotal for academic learning.
The onset of Covid-19 and incessant lockdowns have utterly shattered the very functioning of the educational institutions. The current mode of learning was primarily dependent on a less reliable e-class system that lacked the rigour of a realtime class.
These classes not only affected the educational standards but also posed a serious threat to the physical and mental health of the students who had to remain sticked with mobile phones & computers.
Parents, teachers and mostly students appear to be highly excited about the return to schools & colleges but avoiding complacency shall be a determining factor that will eventually decide the future course of things.
Use of masks, hand sanitizers, fumigations need to be made mandatory inside the educational premises in order to counter the spread of this menace.
The seating arrangements need to be recalibrated and proper distances between the pupils should be maintained as well till everyone is innoculated.
Furthermore, in order to avoid the confusion where every flu nowadays is mistakenly considered as
Corona virus, the children must be vaccinated with normal seasonal flu shots that can guard them against the normal types of flu.
The government must make such flu vaccines mandatory and free for all children so that everyone is able to receive them as it will help to cater to the unnecessary panicking and rumor mongering.
Above all these precautionary measures, the government must perpetually take cognizance of the situation on ground and if it is felt that the Covid cases are on rise again, schools & colleges should be shut as that will be the only rational viable option available.
