Baramulla : The farmers of the north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday demanding fair compensation and waiving off loan as their paddy and other crops were totally damaged due to recent unseasonal snowfall in Kashmir.
While demanding fair compensation and waiving off loans the snow hit farmers on Friday during a protest demonstration said that 70 percent crop of farmers has been damaged due to unseasonal snowfall which Kashmir witnessed in the month of November.
The protesting farmers talking with Kashmir Despatch said around 30-50 percent of apple orchards in the district have been destroyed completely and irony is no district official took care of we affected farmers.
The farmers said that they have been hit by crop damage and are reeling under financial distress and from the other hand Kisan loan has added to the woes of we already suffered farmers.
Pertainally, Following the abrogation of Article 370 in August and heavy snowfall in Kashmir, farmers have been hit by crop damage and are reeling under financial distress.
Meanwhile the affected farmers demanded compensation for damaged crops and wants the Centre to announce a relief package soon as a sign of relief.
The farmers also appealed the Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu to personally look into this issue.
