SRINAGAR, June 19: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) leader Mohammad Maqbool Bhat on Friday urged the district administration Kupwara to pay some attention towards the sufferings of the people of Langate assembly segment who are craving for basic amenities.

In a statement issued here, Bhat demanded immediate repair of damaged roads, supply of  drinking water and electricity supply to the inhabitants of many villages which fall in Langate constituency.

“The lack of basic amnesties like roads, water and electricity is giving a tough time to the inhabitants of dozens of villages including Panditpura, Humpora, Anwan, hajan, Rasrapora, Udipora, Ganapora, Bicharwara and takiya Langate who feel completely neglected by the government,” Bhat remarked.

The JKAP leader appealed Lieutenant Governor led administration to give some priority to rural areas of J&K especially to the district Kupwara which are suffering for want of basic necessities especially road infrastructure.

“The roads in almost all the villages of Langate constituency are in a dilapidated condition. People living in these areas are suffering immensely because of official apathy,” Bhat said, while appealing deputy commissioner Kupara to order the R&B, PHE and PDD departments to address these issues on priority.

The JKAP leader observed that the inhabitants of Langate villages especially the student community and patients have been suffering the worst because of the damaged and bumpy roads in their areas.

“I appeal to the district administration not to use COVID Pandemic as an excuse and the concerned departments may be directed to visit the fields and assess the situation on the ground,” he demanded.

He said the patients of Langate constituency are carried on shoulders in extreme cases. “Same happens with delivery cases. The way our villages are neglected by the authorities puts a question mark on the government of India’s claims of developing rural India on a fast track basis,” he added.

Bhat said the entire road network in almost all areas falling in the Langate assembly segment are damaged at many places and are full of potholes. “The rains turn the situation worse due to water-logging in the ditches and potholes resulting in frequent road accidents in these areas,” he said.
