Republic Day Celebration held at Baramulla

Baramulla, January 26: In connection with the 70th Republic day celebration, a grand function was today organized at District Police Lines here with District Development Commissioner, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash   as the Chief Guest.

GOC 19 Infantry Division Major General Gulaab Singh Rawat, DIG North, Kashmir Atul Goyal, DIG CRPF, SSP Baramulla, Director Planning,ADC Baramulla, ACR,President Municipal Council Baramulla,officer from Civil, Police and Army besides a huge gathering people were present on the occasion.

DDC hoisted the tricolor and inspected the Parade and took salute to the March Past presented by the contingents of District Police, CRPF, Fire and Emergency Service and School children.

Highlighting the importance of Republic Day during his speech, DDC emphasized on the various aspects of the rapid development of the Nation. He enlisted various developmental projects being undertaken in different sectors viz education, health, rural development etc and said that the district has recorded splendid development in these sectors. He further said that the medical college which is being established at an estimated cost of Rs 139 crore, is in its final phase of completion and the admission for the  first batch of students will be started in next academic session.

Stressing for promoting national integration, communal harmony, DDC exhorted upon the fact that these are the basic building blocks needed for making the Nation strong and great besides terming peace imperative for development.

The DDC also complimented the services rendered by the officers of district administration and emphasized upon them to work with more enthusiasm in placing   district Baramulla at top slot.

Various cultural programmes depicting the cultural diversity and heritage of the state were presented by the groups of school children and Information Department. Skits based on the theme of “National Integration” were presented by the school children.

At the conclusion of the function, a Prize distribution ceremony was held, wherein awards were presented to the Schools for their best performance in March Pasts and Cultural programme presentation. Officers were also given awards for their excellent works in different fields.

Meanwhile, functions in connection with the Republic day celebration were held across the district at Sub-Divisional and Tehsil levels.Attachments area
