Residents protest as water shortage strike Baramulla village

Baramulla, Jul 12 : Residents of Kanispora area of Baramulla in north Kashmir on Friday took to the streets protesting against the shortage of water for the past one month.

The villagers including women gathered on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway to highlight the water crises faced by residents in the area since past one month.

We were ignored when we approached the authorities for the redressal of this genuine cause said protesting residents to Kashmir Despatch. They said that they regularly pay the water bills but still there is no water in the area.

The protesting women flock talking with Kashmir Despatch said because of the scarcity of water their children had not had a bath for some time despite hot weather conditions in the valley. The women flock while raising slogans against PHE department demanded redressal of the issue at earliest.

The protest in the area was on when last reports came in.

Meanwhile officials at PHE division Baramulla when contacted assured that issue will be solved at earliest and residents will get water as per schedule.
