Sopore, October 11: The admin in north Kashmir’s Sopore town chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday to address the challenges faced by traders and citizens due to a road divider positioned at a crucial location.
The meeting consisted of essential stakeholders including the administration, police officials, public representatives, business delegates, and civil authorities.
President of the Traders Federation, Muhammad Ashraf Ganai, highlighted the negative impact of the ‘road divider’ on local businesses, expressing how the establishment of this structure has severely hampered the operations of shopkeepers.
It has effectively paralyzed business activities in the main markets, leading to substantial difficulties faced by traders. Despite repeated attempts to bring this issue to the attention of the authorities, no action has been taken thus far he said.
In addition, representatives from the affected areas highlighted increased risks of accidents, as passengers and private vehicles navigate through the streets due to the presence of the road divider. This situation has not only led to potential accidents but also hindered the smooth movement of residents in the area. Immediate resolution of this issue was urged, with the aim of restoring business activities in important markets and ensuring the free movement of ordinary citizens.
President of Municipal Council Sopore, Musarat Rasool Kar, stressed the administration’s commitment to providing relief to common citizens, including traders. She urged the avoidance of any actions that would inconvenience the general public and assured that steps would be taken promptly to find an effective solution to this problem.
Both Musarat Kar and Additional Development Commissioner SA Raina expressed their assurance that immediate measures would be taken to address the concerns at hand.
The joint meeting was viewed as a positive step towards initiating meaningful dialogue and action to address the difficulties faced by traders and citizens in Sopore town.
