SRINAGAR, Dec 11: Director Tourism Kashmir, Raja Yaqoob, has revealed that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Tourism Ministry are in advanced-stage discussions to allow the use of satellite phones for trekkers in Jammu and Kashmir. This move aims to enhance safety measures for adventure enthusiasts exploring the region’s challenging terrains.
Highlighting the region’s growing popularity among international visitors, Yaqoob stated, “Every day, we have 200-500 foreign tourists arriving.” The steady influx underscores Kashmir’s appeal as a premier global travel destination.
The proposed satellite phone initiative is expected to bolster connectivity and ensure timely response to emergencies, further boosting confidence among tourists and adventure seekers.
