New Delhi, Aug 9: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of four judges as Chief Justices of different High Courts, according to a resolution passed at its meeting on August 6.
The Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, recommended Justice V. Kameswar Rao, currently serving as a judge of the Delhi High Court, for appointment as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge, presently the Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, has been recommended as Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.
The Collegium also recommended Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi of the Allahabad High Court for appointment as Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
For the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Collegium recommended that Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, currently serving as its Chief Justice, continue in the post.
The recommendations are part of the Collegium’s exercise to fill and streamline leadership positions in various High Courts. The appointments will take effect after the recommendations are processed and formally notified by the government.
