Notices issued, no demolition drive is underway nor under consideration, says officials
Srinagar, Nov 29: The Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) on Saturday said that the administration has initiated a verification drive to check violations of building permissions by shopkeepers and allottees of commercial units in the city.
An SDA officer told that the authority has found several shopkeepers raising additional structures and extensions beyond the permissible limits on the spaces allotted to them on rent.
The officer said multiple complaints have also been received regarding these unauthorized constructions.
“Notices have already been issued to many shopkeepers, directing them to explain their position regarding the illegal extensions on their allotted units,” the officer said.
The SDA clarified that no demolition drive is underway nor under consideration. The current process, it said, is limited to verification and collection of complete data related to the deviations.
The authority added that further action, as warranted under law, will be taken after examining the responses to the notices. (KNC)
