Secretariat Employees To Go On Strike Against Govt From Dec 26

Date:

Srinagar, Dec 20 (GNS): Civil Secretariat employees on Thursday announced to go on complete strike from December 26 to press for their demands even as employees boycotted several departments to protest against attachments made by officers.

Ghulam Rasool Mir, Chairman, J&K Civil Secretariat Employees Coordination Committee said that employees boycotted Rural Development Department, Health and Medical Education, Education, PHE, GAD, and R&B departments in view of a huge number of attachments made by the officers at their own level in violation of Government orders.

He said that employees have decided to go for a complete strike from 26th December to press the government to resolve their long pending issues. “There is nothing in the budget for employees,” he said.

Mir told GNS that from last six months, the Governor led administration has not addressed any issues of the employees.

“The employees of Rural Development, Education, Health, PHE, GAD, R&B, Industries Commerce will boycott till the employees attached with these departments are not detached,” he said.

He said previously government has finalized some issues including revocation of SRO 202, allocation of slots in feeding KAS (from promotion quota) services of different departments, cadre review and career profession of J&K law services, J&K economics and statistics services, J&K Accounts services, enhancement of promotion quota for J&K class 4th employees from 25 to 50 percent, NPS services, regularization of DRWs and casual labourers, issue regarding pay anomalies of various services, DPC clearance of promotions of J&K legislative assembly services, eviction of illegal occupants from government quarters, construction of quarters for Darbar move employees. “After Governor took charge all the pending issues were put to cold storage and took the employees of the state for granted,” Mir said. Even thought the cordibation commitee briefed the goveror about the issues pending and also submitted a memorandum.

Instead of creating employment avenues to curb unemployment in the state, he said, the state government closed major employment generation departments like economics and statistics and appointment in Education department .

“Medi-claim scheme implemented by the government has been scrapped. The scrapping of the scheme seems direct benefit to the insurance company as government has provided Rs 60 corers in advance and still money is still being detected from the employees’ salary.” (GNS)
