Bandipora, July 23: Security forces have intensified raids, search operations and vehicle checking across north Kashmir’s Bandipora district following the recent terror attack in Anantnag that left a police head constable dead.
Reports said that extensive search operations are underway at multiple locations across the district as part of heightened security measures. Raids are being conducted at various places based on specific inputs, while security agencies have stepped up surveillance to prevent any untoward incident.
According to the details, more than 130 suspected Over Ground Workers (OGWs) have been detained for questioning and verification during the ongoing operations. The detentions are part of a wider security exercise aimed at identifying militant support networks.
Vehicle checking has been intensified at major roads, entry and exit points, and important intersections across the district. Security personnel are conducting thorough inspections of vehicles and verifying the identity of commuters. Frisking of pedestrians has also been increased at busy marketplaces and other vulnerable locations.
In addition, area domination patrols have been enhanced in both urban and rural areas, with security forces maintaining a visible presence to ensure public safety. Surveillance has also been strengthened, with personnel monitoring movement at sensitive locations.
The heightened security arrangements come amid a high alert across Kashmir following Wednesday’s attack in Anantnag’s Lal Chowk, where a police head constable was shot dead by militants.
Authorities have urged public to cooperate with security personnel during checking and verification drives, stating that the measures are precautionary and aimed at maintaining peace and preventing any disruption to law and order.
The security operations are expected to continue in the coming days as agencies remain on alert across the district.
