Shopian, April 13 : At least a dozen persons were injured during intense clashes with government forces in Shopian village area in South Kashmir District on Saturday.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that after news of the encounter spread in the area youth in large numbers hit the streets and tried to make their way to the encounter site, however government forces deployed there fired tear smoke shells to disperse them.
As per reports at least a dozen protesters were injured during the clashes when youth hurled stones upon the troopers in retaliation.
However hospital authorities confirmed to this newspaper that four injured persons were referred to Srinagar for specialised treatment.
Pertainally, Two militants including a top Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) commander were killed in an encounter with government forces in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Saturday.
Meanwhile in wake of this gunfight, authorities suspended internet services in parts of Shopian as a precautionary measures.
