SRINAGAR: Several key water bodies in Kashmir, including Sheshnag, Lidder, and Vishow Nallah, breached danger or flood declaration levels early Wednesday morning, prompting heightened alert from authorities. Aru Nallah was also reported likely flowing above the flood declaration mark.
According to official data recorded at 7 am, Sheshnag Nallah reached 6.36 ft at 5 am, surpassing both the flood declaration level of 4.59 ft and the danger mark of 5.09 ft. Lidder Nallah recorded 1.67 m, crossing the flood declaration level of 1.5 m and breaching the danger level of 1.65 m.
In Kulgam, the water level in Vishow Nallah was measured at 8.24 m, above its flood declaration level of 7.75 m and nearing the danger mark of 8.50 m. Meanwhile, Aru Nallah was reported likely flowing above the flood declaration mark of 4.59 ft, though exact measurements were yet to be confirmed.
According to Kashmir Weather, water levels of Jhelum at Sangam and Ram Munshi Bagh are likely to surpass the Flood Declaration mark and may even breach the Danger Level today.
Authorities said the situation is being closely monitored, and local residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to remain cautious
