Shepherd drowns in Jhelum in Sopore

Sopore : A 20-year-old shepherd has drowned after he slipped into the Jhelum river in outskirts of Sopore on Wednesday afternoon.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said a 20-year-old shepherd identified as Nazir Ahmad Cheechi son of Mohammad Yousuf Cheechi a resident of Bandipora is feared dead after he slipped into river Jhelum in Seer Jagir area.

Reports added, following which a rescue operation has been launched jointly by SDRF, police assisted by locals, to rescue the drowned shepherd.

However no trace of the shepherd was found, when this report is being filed.
