Srinagar, Mar 4 : In the early morning hours today, a pre-dawn fire engulfed three commercial complexes in the Tak Masjid locality of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, causing extensive damage to their upper floors and roofs.
The fire erupted under the cover of darkness, but the local fire department responded swiftly.
The distress call was received at 3:50 AM. The Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) in Shopian, under the command of Pulwama, acted promptly, departing at 3:51 AM and arriving at the scene by 3:58 AM. Firefighters immediately began dousing operations, successfully bringing the blaze in the upper floors of the affected buildings under control.
Residents of the locality awoke to the chaos but have since been reassured by the administration that there is no cause for alarm. Authorities are continuing to monitor the site and investigate the cause of the fire while implementing precautions to minimize any further damage.
