Shortage of face masks; A nagging concern for locals

Srinagar Mar 27: With a major health scare sweeping across the globe as well as valley there’s a face mask shortage.


While the demand for face masks is currently high across Valley to prevent the spread of the deadly Coronavirus but from another side the price is skyrocketing.


Scores of people claimed that the surgical masks which usually sell for Rs 10 are being sold for Rs 30 or higher, and N95 masks which normally were available at Rs 150 but now are being sold @Rs 300-500 at this spare of time across valley.

” The unavailability of face masks have wreaked havoc, as we are unable to buy masks from any medical store, ” Said Aqib a Class 12 student. He further said my brother has bought a mask a few weeks ago from Srinagar on exorbitant rate, whose marker cost is Rupees ten. He said.

Meanwhile, the demand for protective masks and sanitizers in Kashmir has gone up significantly with rising demand, besides the price of face masks and sanitizers shot up rapidly.
