SRINAGAR, Jan 10: Former general secretary Youth Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Showkat Gayoor Andrabi has tendered resignation from the basic membership of the party.
“It deeply pains to inform you that after rounds of consultation with the cadre on ground I am left with no option but to severe my ties and decades of association with the party. I had joined PDP under the visionary leadership of Late Mufti Sahab who provided people a viable political alternative to end the uncertainty hovering above the political landscape of J&K,” reads the letter shot by Andrabi to Mehbooba Mufti, former chief minister and president PDP.
A copy of letter in possession of the Kashmir Despatch, reads further: “IN all this I have always served as a dedicated party person where in it was an endeavor to serve on various key party posts under the dynamic leadership of Mufti Sahab. Now that recent events of expulsion of senior party leaders from the party have brought to the fore the central issue of neglect of the grass root workers in favour of armchair leaders.”
The letter reads: “All of us are aware the party is going through a difficult phase therefore it becomes imperative to strengthen the hands of our party workers who face the ground realities but the impression created among the workers is that the leadership shows concern but does not deliver upto their expectations and the affairs are being run by shadow leaders who paved way in building the party brick by brick. All of it has collectively resulted in disappointing the cadre who are the foot soldiers in my decades of service in politics and therefore I hereby tender my resignation with immediate effect.”
