SRINAGAR, Sept 28:
The Women’s Welfare Committee of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) today organized a special Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening Camp exclusively for women employees of the institute. The initiative, held under the chairmanship of Dr. Sadaf Ali, aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and early detection of lifestyle-related ailments.
The camp was inaugurated by Director SKIMS and EOSG, Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, in the presence of the Dean Medical Faculty and the Medical Superintendent SKIMS. In his opening address, Prof. Ganie underlined the importance of women’s health and welfare, not only within SKIMS but across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized that preventive measures and timely detection of illnesses are key to ensuring a healthier workforce and society.
The camp witnessed large participation from women employees, who underwent comprehensive screening for hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and other risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases. The organizing committee, comprising Dr. Sadaf Ali (Chairperson), Dr. Shamila (Organizing Secretary), Dr. Natasha, Dr. Dil Afroz, Dr. Shaida Nasreen, Dr. Iqra Nazir, and Mrs. Qurat, worked tirelessly to ensure smooth execution of the day-long health program.
Faculty experts Dr. Farhana and Dr. Natasha Thakur provided specialist consultations, while a dietician offered personalized counseling and distributed balanced diet charts to participants. Free medications were dispensed to employees requiring medical intervention, ensuring immediate support to those in need. The scope of the camp was further widened with ultrasonography screening conducted by Dr. Moonisa from the Department of Radiology, enabling early detection of underlying health conditions.
In her concluding remarks, Dr. Sadaf Ali, Chairperson of the Women’s Welfare Committee, extended heartfelt gratitude to the Director, Dean, Medical Superintendent, faculty members, volunteers, and the women employees who actively participated in the event. She reiterated the significance of such initiatives in raising awareness, promoting preventive practices, and ensuring timely healthcare interventions.
The successful conduct of the camp reflected SKIMS’ continued commitment to employee welfare and its vision of strengthening preventive healthcare services within the institution.
