SRINAGAR, June 19: One day workshop on “Motivation for Social service, Self defence and Disaster Management” was organised by Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and AH, SKUAST-K Shuhama on Monday.
According to a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch, the workshop was graced by acting Vice Chancellor Prof. M A A Siddiqui, Director Planning and Monitoring Dr. H R Naik, Dean FVSc and AH Prof. M.T. Banday. Philanthropists and social activists, Dr Jitender Singh Shunty, Padma Shri-Awardee and Founder of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal (SBSSD) and Dr. Amir Rashid Wani founder of Mooj Kasheer Welfare Trust (MKT) were the lead speakers for the event.
The social activist Jitender Singh Shunty addressed the gathering and shared his experiences and social work he rendered during the COVID pandemic for which he has been awarded Padmshree in 2021 by Government of India. His efforts cannot get unnoticed for his Blood donation more than 100 times for which he is popularly known by “donor Singh’of India. Another young young social activist Dr. Amir Rashid Wani , son of the Soil also shared his contribution towards the society by his tireless efforts in arranging marriages of under underprivileged girls and adopting 200 students from Budgam for their education
Around 500 students, Scholars and Scientists were present on this occasion. Vice Chancellor appreciated the initiative of social work and belief that a person can change the world. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Bhat, ASWO who expressed his deepest admiration and heart-full gratitude to philanthropists for their unwavering dedication for improving lives of others.
