Bandipora, Oct 12: Vice Chancellor Sheri-Kashmir university of agriculture science and technology Professor Nazir Ahmad Ganie on Saturday in Gurez said that the government is working on to promote sustainable farming in Gurez valley.
Speaking with the media after inaugurating the Administrative cum laboratory building in Dawar Gurez, Ganie said that the department is working to cultivate the crops in Gurez naturally without using any pesticides.
He also said that the KVK Gurez is the addition of 20 KVK’s in the valley. “We are working to preserve forest medicines, nesh crops like potatoes and Black cumin which are famous in Gurez without disturbing natural biodiversity.”
“The building was constructed with a cost of 1.70 crore rupees in a short span of time to help farmers in these border areas.”
He further added, the climate change has affected the production of crops across the country and added the department is making efforts to increase the production of these crops by using scientific techniques.
He was accompanied by Director KVK’s Professor Din Mohd Makhdoomi, SDPO Gurez, KVK Gurez incharge Dr Hilal and other senior officials from the department.
