SRINAGAR, Mar 11: Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain Monday said that smooth and peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha elections 2024 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is our top priority.
He said Police and other security agencies are fully prepared to ensure peaceful Lok Sabaha elections whenever they are announced, and added, “The enthusiastic voters will be provided safe and peaceful atmosphere during elections”.
DGP Swain while inaugurating a Police Post at Rahmoo village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama told report that police force is fully prepared and geared up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The smooth and peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha elections in Jammu & Kashmir is our top priority. The police and other security agencies will ensure peaceful LS polls, and will provide a safe and secure atmosphere to enthusiastic voters,” the DGP said.
Responding to a query, the DGP said that the investigations into the narco-terror cases revealed that there is a deep nexus between the two. “As and when investigations progressed, the concrete evidence came to fore that narco-trade and terrorism are deeply not only linked but interconnected,” he said added, “The terrorist outfits like Al-Badr, Jaish-e-Muhammad, Lashkar-e-Toiba are behind this trade”.
The DGP said that we have a robust mechanism to curb and crack this trade. “It is not so easy but we are doing and the police force is capable to do it,” DGP added. (KNS)
